Great headset, but read this if using Windows 8
This is a great headset but, if you're planning to use these headphones on Windows 8, the driver probably won't work right out of the box. It's easy enough to get working but you'll need an extra minute or two. Just follow these steps: 1) Download the driver from the Plantronics website.

Plantronics has a long proud history that started with a couple of airline pilots coming up with a lightweight headset for the airlines. Shortly after, they were contracted to build headsets for NASA as well.
Pros:
- The Plantronics GameCom 780 is comfortable to wear for extended gaming sessions
Cons:
- The ear cups are bigger than necessary

Do not buy
The microphone is a mixed bag on this one. Its extremely clear and sounds great, however it picks up every single noise in the room. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. I can hear my PC fans (which are NOT loud at ALL) as well as keyboard clacking, mouse clicks, everything.
Pros:
- Great headset, sounds are crisp and clear and 7.1 is awesome
- Well built, decent quality for the price
Cons:
- These have the same freq
- response and LESS bass than my creative fatality headset that is >5 years old

this will be short and quick. the price was excellent. these work great and love it that you can change from 5.1 to 7.1 and back. easy to setup and get working. here comes the but...... they are not comfortable on the ears. I think I have larger ears so they don't fit very good.

These headphones have Dolby 7.1 surround sound

Plantronics GameCom 780
I think that the GameCom 780 is a huge step in the right direction for Plantronics. Extended-wear comfort is excellent and the placement of all buttons on the headset itself is a very welcome change, as is the greatly improved surround compatibility profile over the older 777 headset.
Pros:
- Comfortable and lightweight
- Decent stereo quality
- On-ear headset controls
- Dolby Headphone and Pro Logic support
- Excellent directional sound
- Decent game compatibility
- Configurable speaker layout
Cons:
- Noisy microphone
- Short headphone cord
- No equalizer settings
- Stereo-only support for OpenAL games

Great sound, Great mic
The sound is very clear, you can hear all footsteps while in game and movies/music are perfect for these. The only thing lacking was the bass. The bass is there and it sounds great but it does not have the stronger oomf I hoped for.

Epic Headset !
This headset is the best headset you can have at this price! Benn playing Skyrim and Battlefield 3 and the 7.1 surround is fantastic, you hear where the sound came from! This is the best deal ever!

Plantronics GameCom 780 Gaming Headset Review
Any serious gamer knows that a good headset is essential to the ultimate gaming experience. Plantronics has made a name for themselves in the PC gaming headset market over the years. Their last offering, the GameCom 777 was an awesome USB surround headset that combined comfort and performance.
