Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2 Review: Active noise cancellation on a budget

Plantronics offers some of the least-expensive noise-cancelling heaphones on the market. But you get what you pay forr.

Inexpensive compared to competing ANC headphones; Long; 24-hour battery life; Long-range connectivity; Can be used wirelessly or plugged into a 3.5mm...

Muddy mid-range caused by overwhelming low end; Track control buttons difficult to landmark; Questionable build quality and design decisions; ANC not...

Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2

The most desirable headphones around may, among other things, be comfortable to wear on the head - but they're usually too expensive to make you feel similarly comfortable when handing over your debit card.

Fairly smooth sound; Enjoyably large soundstage; Good battery life; Feature-packed

Only moderately effective noise cancellation; Soft; slow and overblown low frequencies

Am disappointed. The battery life is the saving grace

Bass is highly disappointing! There is absolutely no difference in listening from my laptop speakers and this headphone. Am disappointed. The battery life is the saving grace. Maybe I should have just bought one of the Sony models!

Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2: The best sub-£200 ANC headphones

Plantronics is not a name you'd habitually associate with music headphones and consumer audio; this is a firm better known for its conference-call headsets, call-centre hardware and the like.

Beautiful design; Mind blowing bass; Good ANC capabilities

A little uncomfortable; Might be too bass-heavy for some

Good headphones. Very expensive

Good headphones. Very expensive. ANC could be better but it's reasonable. When answering a call from them, it's really hard to understand anyone if they're outside

Fantastic

Really good headphones, especially at the sale price.

Awesome bang for the buck in terms of sound quality. Great battery life

Active noise cancelling isn't as good as more expensive competition. When paired with 2 devices; it sometimes pops or interrupts the sound playing from one; even though there is nothing going on with the second device.

Sounds as good as it looks

Bought it a month ago to replace my sons headphones and he loves the sound and how user friendly it was. The battery life is another feature. He rates as the best headphone he has ever owned!
