Introduction So here we are again with another camera review. As well as computers and peripherals we do tend to sell cameras too, and on this occasion we're going to be talking specifically about the Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ70.
Excellent Quality; Compact Design; Lightweight
Night Shots may be Grainy
The camera is very capable and takes very good photos in a wide variety of situations so far. The service from UK digital was excellent, with prompt delivery & status information available at every stage.
I have had this camera since November 2016 and it is still competitive today and about 25% cheaper. It has been dragged from the hockey rink to the beach to the Yukon and suits my needs as a reliable, pocketable camera.
"First things first, Panasonic have announced 2 new models in the same form factor, due in March 2016. I got the DMCZS50K after returning the Sony DSC-HX90VB which did not work nearly as well as I expected.
The Panasonic ZS50 is a wonderfully versatile compact camera, with solid images from extreme close-ups to telephoto. The ZS50 handles low light well and captures a pretty good video for a compact camera as well.
Solid image quality throughout zoom range; Good low light performance; Solid speed; Electronic viewfinder
Not enough controls for using manual settings; No tilting LCD screen; Audible zoom noise in video footage
While its small sensor and aperture range limit the types of photos you can take, this camera's focus is clearly on the impressive zoom lens that enables you to shoot tight portraits. Features such as Wi-Fi and manual controls give it good versatility.
Its 30x zoom offers great versatility
This camera's protruding lens sometimes gets caught on the way in and out of pockets
In a year when 20-megapixel compacts are becoming the norm, Panasonic made a bold decision to reduce the sensor resolution of its latest pocket superzoom, the Lumix DMC-ZS50 ($399.99).
Compact; 30x zoom lens; Integrated EVF; Raw shooting support; Excellent high-ISO images; 10fps burst shooting; Snappy autofocus; Lens control ring; Wi-Fi; Excellent 1080p60 video
External charger not included; Omits in-camera GPS; Pricey
Since Panasonic started the trend for travel cameras, plenty of other manufacturers have produced their own versions and there are now quite a few cameras which compete with the TZ70 – a 30x optical zoom is not the rarity it once was.
30x zoom range; Wi-Fi and NFC; Manual control
No touchscreen; Can't use some features with raw shooting
