Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30
The green GPS light keeps flashing all night even when the camera is switched off. Do you really expect me to go into the setup menue everytime I switch it on /off to deal with Gps settings?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30
What's not to like? The TZ30 has taken everything that made the TZ20 good and made it one step better. As follow-ups go they don't come much better. However, battery life could be longer and image quality could be improved further – though that's common for most, if not all, compact cameras.
Pros:
- 20x optical zoom
- excellent image stabilisation
- very fast autofocus
Cons:
- Battery life okay at best
- GPS eats battery life
- image quality good but not exceptional

Best balance at the bargain price I paid.
This camera was purchased cheaply, due to a closing down sale. I would not have bought this camera otherwise. It has won a lot of reviews, though the TZ25 has edged it in some. The image stabilizer is very good.
Pros:
- This camera was purchased cheaply, due to a closing down sale
- I would not have bought this camera otherwise
- It has won a lot of reviews, though the TZ25 has edged it in some
- The image stabilizer is very good.
Cons:
- Typical of Panasonic cameras is make sure you leave the mode selector on shoot
- The delay is long in review mode
- No post red-eye removal in camera like my Canon SX200is.

Panasonic Lumix TZ30
The travel compact segment of the digital camera market is one of the most lucrative and keenly contested, with all of the major manufacturers keen to claim a share of the spoils. The main reason why travel compacts have become so popular is because of the flexibility they offer.
Pros:
- Huge zoom range offers great flexibility
- AF speed is some of the fastest yet seen in a compact
- Easy to use and feels well built
- Built-in digital filters and a one-touch panorama mode
- Generous range of Full HD movie recording options
Cons:
- Still no ability to capture lossles Raw image files
- Choice of Full HD movie recording options can be confusing
- Battery performance still isn't great - especially with GPS on

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30
The TZ30 offers a 20x optical zoom and is an excellent camera for travellers, fitted out with all of the tools you could possibly desire. Unfortunately, it just missed the mark on overall image quality, which stops us from awarding it an Editors' Choice award.
Pros:
- 20x optical zoom
- Reasonably speedy performance
- especially for burst shooting
- Good image-stabilisation system
- Good image quality
Cons:
- Relatively low-resolution screen versus its competitors
- No RAW capture
- Battery drains quickly
