The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 is a well-designed, easy-to-use travel zoom camera that stuffs a 20X Leica lens into a body just 1.1 inches thick. As with its predecessor (the ZS10), its design, features, and performance are its best attributes, while photo quality could be better (though the ZS20 is...
Pros:
  • Good photo quality (though see below
  • Packs a 20X Leica lens in a pretty compact package
  • "Power OIS" image stabilization
  • with "active" mode for movies
  • 3-inch touchscreen LCD with 460,000 pixels
  • great outdoor/low light visibility
  • Built-in GPS with landmark database and maps
  • Good collection of...
Cons:
  • While improved over the ZS10, photos still have too much noise, even at ISO 100, Tends to clip highlights, Strong redeye
  • no removal tool in playback mode, Images have yellow/brownish cast in artificial light, No RAW, manual focus, or WB bracketing support

Panasonic Lumix TZ30

A small digital camera from a company that does a whole raft of electrical items which naturally include cameras. This is perhaps one of their smallest as they also do a range of DSLR units apart from the pocket Lumix range.

Panasonic Lumix TZ30

The travel compact segment of the digital camera market is one of the most lucrative and keenly contested, with all of the major manufacturers keen to claim a share of the spoils. The main reason why travel compacts have become so popular is because of the flexibility they offer.

  • Huge zoom range offers great flexibility
  • AF speed is some of the fastest yet seen in a compact
  • Easy to use and feels well built
  • Built-in digital filters and a one-touch panorama mode
  • Generous range of Full HD movie recording options
Cons:
  • Still no ability to capture lossles Raw image files
  • Choice of Full HD movie recording options can be confusing
  • Battery performance still isn't great - especially with GPS on

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30

The TZ30 offers a 20x optical zoom and is an excellent camera for travellers, fitted out with all of the tools you could possibly desire. Unfortunately, it just missed the mark on overall image quality, which stops us from awarding it an Editors' Choice award.

  • Reasonably speedy performance
  • especially for burst shooting
  • Good image-stabilisation system
  • Good image quality
Cons:
  • Relatively low-resolution screen versus its competitors
  • No RAW capture
  • Battery drains quickly

The 14.1 megapixel, 20x optical zoom Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30 is the best point and shoot camera it offers in terms of striking the right balance between feature set and performance, before you start stepping up to the likes of the premium-end Panasonic Lumix LX5 and its replacement, or indeed one...
Pros:
  • Manual and auto controls
  • Compact but comfy grip
  • Packed with features

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ30: Trigger happy.

PRICE **** The camera is a very reasonable £230.00 isn (depending on where you get the camera from) though I would usually not pay this amount for a camera, it was a present to me and I'm very glad I got it as it is worth every penny.
