The camera has some advanced features that are sure to please enthusiasts, including Raw capture and the ability to add an optional electronic viewfinder or external flash. It's not perfect—despite a relatively low-resolution sensor, it doesn't do that well in low light, and the decision to include a dedicated aperture ring is questionable. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100($448.00 at Amazon) is still our Editors' Choice when it comes to high-end compact cameras. It's priced $200 higher than the LX7, but features a much larger 1-inch image sensor and better overall performance. It seems to me that the fixed lens, compact camera game has spawned two sub species: ultra long zoom models and those with ultra fast lenses … to some they're called ‘bright'. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 belongs in the latter category and a dazzling model it is too: compact, light in weight and full...

The panorama feature "will let you 'sweep' the camera from side-to-side, with an automatically stitched panorama arriving a few seconds later," says Jeff Keller at DPReview.com. "Unfortunately, all of my panoramas had vertical banding in them, which I hope Panasonic can fix via firmware update.

The LX7K is over the top! The lens is better then the camera. The bigger the picture the better. The only bad point is that the LX7K is fragile. It could get sand fog and water in it. Buy a camera case for it.

If you've not yet been swayed by one of Panasonic's interchangeable lens Lumix G compact system cameras, but would still like to achieve improved quality image , then the metal construction and comprehensively featured LX series is well worth checking out.
