Great Macro feature

Compact. A very fast lens that can shoot in very low light. Great Macro feature. Glad I bought mine. A shame they've discontinued it as I think they came close to perfection with this model!

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 review

If you've not yet been swayed by one of Panasonic's interchangeable lens Lumix G compact system cameras, but would still like to achieve improved quality image, then the metal construction and comprehensively featured LX series is well worth checking out.

Relatively lightweight and compact dimensions; Bright aperture lens; Hotshoe and accessory port for attachment of optional extras, such as an EVF

Fixed screen LCD; Priced not a great deal cheaper than one of Panasonic's interchangeable lens G-series compacts system cameras

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 review

Exceptional photo and video quality, nippy performance and lots of creative control – as close to perfect as we've seen from a compact camera

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7

Successor to the LX5, the metal construction 10.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 arrives with various outer and inner tweaks at a rather steep manufacturer's suggested price just shy of £450 in the UK.

While there is a general move towards higher-end compact cameras – as the lower end is overrun by the smartphones – the number of truly enthusiast-level models is still quite small. Canon's G-series PowerShots obviously qualify, so does Fujifi lm's X10, Nikon's P7000-series Coolpixes and the Olympus...

Low light performace in a (baggy) pocket camera

As an intermediate photographer the LX7 complements my TZ30. Operating systems are similar so it's fairly easy to flip between them although I'm still exploring the extended LX7 features.

Easy to use; Compact; Build quality; Battery life; Screen size

Panasonic Lumix DMC LX7 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC LX7 is a little known camera simply because it didn't ship out of the house of Canon or Nikon. What is little known about this camera is that it not only sports a Leica lens, but also the fastest lens in a point and shoot camera.

Fastest lens in the category; Leica lens is exceptionally sharp for compact form factor with physical aperture dials; Excellent video bitrate along with stereo sound

Focusing can be a little daft at times; Archaic menu system that is a pain to browse through

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7

The Panasonic Lumix LX-7 came to the table as a solid looking competitor - with a well-built body, a nice design, and the prior reputation and name. We felt like we were looking at an award winner. However, as we dove in we found the LX-7 to bring little to the table over the competition.

This is "A" camera

I own a Fuji XT-1 with a couple lenses and I am very happy with the equipment, especially after living with Rolleiflexes, Hasselblads, Leicas and Nikons for more than 50 years. The Fuji quality is outstanding and it provides plenty of freedom to create.

Easy To Use; Fast/accurate auto-focus; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; Good in Low Light; Large Clear LCD; Small / Compact
