Panasonic FZ200
? Panasonic has a long-standing legacy for producing quality long-zoom bridge cameras, including the FZ150 superzoom which we reviewed and heartily recommended a little more than a year ago.- Max aperture f/2.8 across full 24x optical zoom range of Leica DC Vario-Elmarit-branded lens
- Relatively sharp and detailed images for a superzoom camera
- Full-res burst shooting at 12 frames per second
- Advanced photographic capabilities (manual focusing/exposure controls, RAW image capture, etc.
- Control scheme and menu layout frustrating to use, especially the over-reliance on the rear dial
- Higher ISOs produce smudged and blurred images as noise reduction efforts increase
- Tendency to clip highlights
- EVF doesn't switch on automatically when you look through it, A bit pricey for a moderate...
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 Review
If you have the budget for an entry-level DSLR camera and are contemplating whether a prosumer-class camera with a good zoom lens would be a better idea, then the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 might sound more convincing.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 takes an impressive 24X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 25-600mm, and makes it even more impressive with a constant F/2.8 maximum aperture. This gives it a huge advantage, two stops at least, towards the long end of the zoom over all other ultra-zooms.- Bright F/2.8 constant maximum aperture
- Superb lens sharpness
- Low optical distortion
- Nice rendition of colors with correct WB
- Quick autofocus
- Very good shutter-lag
- Extremely responsive
- Impressive 12 FPS continuous drive
- Awesome LCD visibility
- Usable video framing overlay mask
- Good...
- Softness from NR above ISO 100
- Noise visible at all ISO
- Useless ISO 3200
- Below average White-Balance system
- Self-timer resets
- Modal EC control
- Minuscule EVF
- Not always Exposure-Priority
- Rear buttons too flat
- Slow startup and shutdown
Panasonic Lumix FZ200
Superzoom cameras have been stretching zoom capacities for years, but it looks as though Panasonic's latest Lumix FZ200 has taken a different approach: it's opted to maintain its predecessor's 24-600mm equivalent zoom, but now offers an f/2.8 aperture throughout the whole range.- An f/2.8 aperture throughout zoom range
- 24-600mm equivalent range is significant
- vari-angle screen
- decent battery life
- raw file capture available
- It's big
- at more than £500 it is pricey
- no touchscreen
- viewfinder refresh rate on the low side (makes it a bit juddery)
- no display of AF/MF on rear screen
- mic input is 2.5mm not 3.5mm

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200
Handheld Night Shot uses a similar trick to help you get steady night shots without a tripod. You can choose from seven Photo Styles (vivid, monochrome, etc.) and 14 filters (Soft Focus, Miniature, etc.). The FZ200 can also shoot in 3D. You won't find GPS or Wi-Fi, CNET's Goldman notes.- 24x zoom lens
- Class-leading photo and video quality
- Full manual controls
- RAW mode and hot shoe
- Outstanding auto mode for beginners
- Electronic viewfinder isn't the highest quality
- So-so in low light
- Plastic body
- Won't fit in a pocket
Worth waiting for this camera
Casual photographer & like the reach of this camera. Works well in low light. Recommend printing out the advance features of the camera. Manual is "sketchy". As with many camera manuals, barely adequate however an all around winner. Abt is a joy to use-quick and painless.- Fast/accurate auto-focus

- Good Image Stabilization
- Good in Low Light
- Great Zoom
- Large Clear LCD

- Patience Is A Virtue
- There is a learning curve
An easy to use, what I call, idiot proof camera. Takes awesome pictures.
Awesome camera! Picture quality is fabulous even in low light conditions (even without flash). While I haven't yet learned to use all of it's applications, I have been very impressed with both the wide angle & zoomed photos that I have taken.
Great Camera..
I decided to buy this camera after reading many reviews in the Internet. It is a good high zoom camera with F 2.8 aperture in 25-600 mm range.Other features I like are High speed HD movie recording and Raw support. Very good quality pictures. Infibeam delivered it on time.
First class compromise
I'm a fan of Lumix bridge cameras and have owned every model since the FZ20. Each one has grown in power and functionality, whilst retaining consistency of look and feel and never sacrificing simplicity for features. The recent addition of video is a good example.
