The Best Super Tele for your Micro 4/3 Hands Down

Im a Semi-Pro for more than 40 years (I chose not to earn a living from Photography). Ive shot with lots of telephotos over the years and never had a Super Tele as sharp as this lens.Without a doubt for the money this is the best lens for your Micro 4/3 System. The build is Pro all the way.

Panasonic 100-400mm f/4-6.3 ASPH POWER OIS LEICA DG VARIO-ELMAR

Just got my Panny Leica 100-400 the other day and was eager to try it out against my aging, heavy Canon 100-400 (orig mk 1 version). With the Panny on a Panasonic G7, and the Canon on a Canon 70D, looking at both on a table, the Canon only appeared to look about 30% bigger.

Super small & lightweight compared to SLR equivelent lenses - Lightening Fast AF - Sharp Res with excellent Leica color sat - Quick zoom action to go from 100 to 400

Zoom ring a bit stiff when making small adjustments (i.e; changing from 200 to 250mm

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4-6.3 Review

Handling and Features Performance Verdict Specification The range of the Micro-Four-Thirds system is extended even further by this new Leica DG lens from Panasonic. With a 35mm-equivalent range of 200-800mm in a very compact design, there is huge potential for sport, bird and other wildlife...

Excellent sharpness; Fast and silent AF; Highly effective Power OIS; Very well controlled CA; Close focusing; Great handling; Compact design; Rotating lens collar; Weather Resistance; Close focusing

Demanding of good technique

Sharp photos at full zoom

I had imagined the zoom would bring me even closer than it does to subjects but be that as it may, the sharpness of the images at full zoom is nothing short of outstanding. I take a lot of sports shots at rowing regattas and the photos are always colourful and sharp.

Surprisingly good

This is a really amazing lens. It is relatively compact for a lens covering the full-frame equivalent of 200-800mm. Focus speed on my Olympus E-M10 Mark II is very fast, even at the full 400mm telephoto. Image Quality is excellent between 100-300mm, and very good at 400mm.

A stellar lens

"A stellar lens I purchased this lens from Henry?s Ottawa shortly after getting my Lumix G5 with the 12-60mm kit lens. Though the 100-400 is expensive and a bit hefty for this format, you won?t find a better nor as useable long zoom lens for this format (or arguably any format IMO).

At last... a m4/3 lens for birders

I've had this lens for awhile, but only recently had a chance to really put it to the test, having spent 3 weeks in Costa Rica. I also own the 100-300mm and while it is fantastic at the short end, it's not good enough for serious work at the long end. The 100-400 reverses that.

Durable; Serious glass; with great IQ at the long end

Easily becomes detached from body; Unimpressive at 100mm

Great lens with the G9

The 100-400 produces excellent results in good light and has come into its own with the G9 I've seen negative reviews re unsharp corners Who looks at corners with a 200-800mm equivalent lens

Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4-6.3 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens - BRAND NEW review

It may be expensive, but it's amazing to consider just what you're getting for the price: one of the lightest ways to get an image-stabilized 800mm image. If you were already thinking about this lens, then looking at these test results should be more than enough to convince you.
