We're all familiar with the concept of the Hero Shooter, right A bright and colourful online FPS, where each character has fixed abilities and weapons including an Ultimate to charge Well, Onrush heralds the arrival of the Hero Racer. Only it doesn't. Because it's not a racer.

Codemasters' latest online racing game has been something of a roller coaster for me. Watching the announcement trailer for Onrush, I like many others saw the resemblance to beloved series like Burnout or Motorstorm.

Arcade racers, within the contemporary industry are pretty much as good as dead. As most publishers don't see any sustainability within this particular sub-genre, and even those who are still green-lightning arcade racers, are only doing so just to milk a long standing and popular IPs.
