OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

Undoubtedly the company's most complete smartphone to date. It has a big, brilliant display, long lasting and fast-charging battery, plus software that's fluid and lightweight. All in a phone that's fast, and actually has a good main camera on the back.

One of the best displays on the market; Lightweight and fluid software; Symmetrical build; Water and dust resistant; Wireless charging addition is a plus

Colour filter camera seems pointless; Telephoto results aren't as vibrant/dynamic as two main cameras; Accidental touches on curved display can be an issue

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

But taken as a package, we can’t think of a flagship Android phone that covers as many bases as the OnePlus 8 Pro. It’s a major contender for the best flagship phone on the market.

Smooth and sharp 120Hz QHD display; Speedy all round; Great camera

Large and unwieldy; Curved display poses problems; Battery life just OK

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

OnePlus has brought a number of key enhancements to the 8 Pro. The lovely design of the top-end 12GB/256GB model with its matte-green back, the 120Hz screen, IP68 rating, fast wired and wireless charging, in-screen front camera, Wi-Fi 6 and 5G all signify a serious 2020 flagship phone.

High-quality industrial design; Top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset; 120Hz screen refresh rate; Fast wired and wireless charging; IP68 dust/water resistance; Alert slider on right edge; In-screen front camera rather than pop-up

Odd colour filter camera; Wireless charging in portrait mode only

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

Fantastic display; Fast; solid performance; OxygenOS is light; adds a few meaningful features and improvements; Great camera performance; 3x telephoto is cool

A bit chunky and heavy; The storage-hungry might want larger options or microSD slot; Speakers are a bit harsh

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

Today we’re taking a peek at the OnePlus 8 Pro, one of two devices released by OnePlus in the “OnePlus 8 family” of devices as of April of 2020. This device comes in several colors, including Onyx Black, Glacial Green, and the one we’ve got here: Ultramarine Blue.

Bright; sharp; colorful display; Display 120Hz image refresh rate; Fast Wireless Charging / Reverse Wireless Charging; Simple software with great potential for advanced users; Cameras capture great photos in most conditions

Punch hole is pro for some; con for others; No 3.5mm headphone jack; Not available directly from some carriers in USA

OnePlus 8 Pro Glacial Green 12+256GB MP 02389 review

OnePlus was once a company that positioned itself as offering flagship specs for wallet-friendly prices. But over the last few years, there’s been an upward trend in the pricing models of its phones, with each one inching closer to the premium pricing tier the company was able to avoid for so long.

Big; beautiful; and fast; Good battery life; Good cameras; Wireless charging; IP68

More expensive than past OnePlus phones; It's very; very big; The camera bump sticks out a lot

OnePlus 8 Pro review

The OnePlus 8 Pro is a proper flagship phone. No more cutting corners. No more 'flagship killer' underdog mantra. OnePlus is now officially mixing it with the biggest names in mobile. It means the 8 Pro is also its most expensive handset to date, but there's plenty of bang for your buck to justify the cost - plus it's still a shade cheaper than rival Samsung, Apple and Huawei smartphones.

One of the best displays around; 5G and plenty of power; Reverse & fast wireless charging;

Most expensive OnePlus yet; Sizable rear camera bump; Less storage base model vs 7T Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro is a great smartphone and is still relatively cheap, considering the features that it offers and compared with other modern flagships. Nevertheless, OnePlus has almost reached the US$1,000 mark, making the OnePlus 8 Pro a low-priced high-end smartphone with excellent features...

bright and precisely calibrated 120 Hz display; smooth touchscreen; stylish and sturdy design; plenty of performance; good battery life; flexible camera system; fast memory; no throttling; precise GPS; many LTE bands; IP certification; fast-charging technology

average call quality; high temperatures under load; only a USB 2.0 cable included; no mmWave 5G; no VHT160 with Wi-Fi 6

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro doesn't lean on gimmicks the way other 2020 flagship phones do, so it might not seem as immediately interesting. Don't be fooled, though: Between its excellent performance, well-thought-out software and one of the best smartphone screens we've ever seen, the OnePlus 8 Pro is a...

Phenomenal 6.78-inch display; OxygenOS is well-thought-out; Excellent performance; All models now support 5G; Sleeker and lighter design; Solid main camera

Fingerprint sensor has early issues; Lackluster telephoto camera; Video motion smoothing isn't for everyone
