OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro is the result of a relentless spec battle with Samsung. It’s an Android phone that spares almost no expense in the quest to include the most powerful, best hardware components. The result is the fastest Android phone experience money can buy — starting at $899.

Excellent build quality; Superb screen; Speedy wireless charging

Only available in one size: huge; Color camera is a pointless gimmick; Below-average dim-light photography

If you've been on the fence about premium Android phones, the OnePlus 8 Pro is a budget option with all the features.

OnePlus 8 Pro review

The 8 Pro sees OnePlus get over an awkward hump. Expensive OnePlus phones are hard enough for long-term fans to swallow, and 5G has only made it more of a throat clogging issue. We have to pay £100 more this year. You do get other benefits besides 5G, like water resistance, wireless charging and a couple of top-quality cameras on the back. Is it worth the extra cash? Yes, just about. However, as the price of OnePlus phones carries on rising, we have to be more critical about the bad bits. Other high price phones last longer between charge and rivals are much better at taking photos of other people’s pets, which these days is more important than being able to make phone calls.

Good macro photos; Has 5G ;

Battery life isn’t the best ; Poor zoom camera;

OnePlus 8 Pro Review

If a phone's screen is its window to the world, the OnePlus 8 Pro shows you the world more beautifully than any other device. The $899 flagship has a brighter, more color-accurate, and more responsive display than any other phone on the market, even the $1,200 Samsung Galaxy S20+. But in the US, the OnePlus 8 Pro has a weird limitation—it's only 5G on T-Mobile's network, and even then, it lacks high-speed millimeter-wave 5G. Any $900 phone this year should really have some form of 5G in it, so we're awarding our Editors' Choice to the more affordable, more widely 5G-compatible OnePlus 8.Design and Display Before we get into details, here's a quick rundown of how the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro compare with the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ on some key differentiators. Note that we don't recommend the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra—not only is it $1,500, its camera doesn't work that well even after being patched. The OnePlus 8 Pro follows the recent trend toward relatively large p...

The OnePlus 8 Pro has a gorgeous display, fast wireless charging, and excellent cameras—we just wish it had better network support.

Best display on any smartphone today; Fast performance; Very good camera; High-speed wireless charging

5G on T-Mobile only; Night mode still a bit behind competitors

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

OnePlus has brought a number of key enhancements to the 8 Pro. The lovely design of the top-end 12GB/256GB model with its matte-green back, the 120Hz screen, IP68 rating, fast wired and wireless charging, in-screen front camera, Wi-Fi 6 and 5G all signify a serious 2020 flagship phone.

High-quality industrial design; Top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset; 120Hz screen refresh rate; Fast wired and wireless charging; IP68 dust/water resistance; Alert slider on right edge; In-screen front camera rather than pop-up

Odd colour filter camera; Wireless charging in portrait mode only

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro is a f*cking great phone. You will pay a price for it that you might not be used to for OnePlus phones, but the company is now producing phones without any of the catches of old. The camera has caught up. The wireless charging is faster than everyone else’s.

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro is the higher variant of the standard OnePlus 8 . The major difference between the two is that the Pro version has a larger display, of course has a bigger battery with wireless charger and provide more camera fun than the standard version, aside which other things remain same.

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro improves on its predecessor in most ways and still undercuts the competition on price

120Hz display is so smooth; An IP68 rating at last; Very good battery life

HDR playback behaves weirdly; Nothing else

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 12+256GB MP 02376 review

The OnePlus 8 Pro finally delivers the full package, and at a price that undercuts the latest crop of 2020 flagships.

Amazingly bright display; 120Hz at QHD+ Resolution; Great battery life; Fast wired & wireless charging; Finally a good camera at launch; Oxygen OS is still the best Android Skin; Official IP68 water resistance rating

Priced like a flagship; 5G compatibility is not great
