Olympus Underwater Camera
I had the earlier version of this (the one in the TV advert that the toddler kicked around the garden)and that was pretty good - great for snorkelling (video too!) and OK as a normal camera. Eventually it got too battered, so we got this one.

The 14-megapixel Olympus Tough TG-310 ($199.99 direct) digital camera is built to withstand some pretty harsh environments. You can submerge it in up to 10 feet of water, drop it from a height of five feet, and use it in temperatures as low as 14°F.
Pros:

- Cannot zoom while recording video

Olympus TG-310 rugged waterproof compact camera
The Olympus TG-310 is a great compact camera for people who want to capture their holidays. It takes still images at a resolution of four megapixels and is waterproof down to three metres. Olympus also says that the Olympus TG-310 camera will survive being dropped from five feet.

Olympus Tough TG-310 review
The TG310 costs a lot less than most rugged, waterproof cameras. It doesn't look especially invulnerable with its plastic shell, but its light weight and lack of extrusions mean that we don't doubt Olympus's claim that it'll survive drops from 1.5m.
