Olympus Tough TG-1 Digital Camera Review
It's obvious to see from the product images that the Olympus TG-1 is a 'tough' camera with its overall metal and rubber construction it certainly appears to be a rather sturdy & serious camera.

Olympus has a long-running reputation for being at the forefront of 'life-proof' compact camera development, frequently being the first to implement new technologies and lead the way in terms of the amount of punishment its cameras can take.

Olympus Tough TG-1
Olympus has been on the tough and waterproof camera tip for a long time now. Its range of mju and Tough cameras has often delivered in the rugged stakes, but lacked higher spec features to make for a really attractive prospect. Can the latest Olympus Tough TG-1 change that?
Pros:
- Tough
- waterproof
- f/2.0 lens useful when camera decides to utilise its potential
- GPS
- converter adapter is fun
Cons:
- Inaccurate focusing
- protective lens window smudges easily and can diminish image quality
- image quality nothing special
- bulky design
- limited battery life (could have a bigger battery in this large body)
- lack of manual controls
- awkward zoom control placement

Snapping pics while snapping bones
For the extreme adventurer, the risk of snapping a few limbs is all part of the fun. Breaking a bone is one thing, but breaking your camera? Now that's just downright scary. Great all rounder for everyone!
When you combine f2.0, 1080p video and rock solid build quality, it results in everyone enjoying this camera, including my kids. By far the best camera in its class.

This camera is OK if you just want to put pix on the internet, email to your friends, or print small versions. But if you want a surf picture to hang on your wall, forget it. The fast, long burst is great, but it doesn't do any good if most of your pictures are soft and noisy, or coated with blue...
Pros:
- Very good burst rate, good auto WB and color
- Design and menus are good
- Good functionality overall
Cons:
- Very poor IQ for any print over 8x10 or any major cropping. Erratic AF. LCD useless in bright sun
- turns this camera into a "Point and Guess." Fogs up if you go from underwater to above water (as in surfing shots where you have to go under a lot of waves. Lens ring falls off easily.

- Bright
- clear display
- F2.0 lens is a big help with low-light shooting

Olympus cameras are no strangers to unfriendly terrains. The Tough series of point-and-shoots have been snapping away in unforgiving weather conditions for years. Up 'til now, rugged cameras from every major manufacturer have been good at surviving the elements but have generally come up short in...
