Olympus SZ-20
The Olympus SZ-20 digital camera is targeted at travel photographers looking for a camera whose zoom range won't feel too restrictive, as well as sports fans wanting a quick-shooting camera with a strong zoom lens to help get them a bit closer to the action.

An innovative camera
I have owned Olympus cameras with a generous zoom capability for many years. At the time of writing, this camera had only recently been released. It is a considerable advance on previous Olympus models, and is an excellent camera, having a zoom of 12.5 X, and a massive 16 Megapixels.

Olympus SZ-20 review
Pitched at the entry-level end of Olympus' Traveller class of cameras, the new SZ-20 enters the point-and-shoot arena with a 12.5 x super wide-angle zoom and rather extensive feature package, set to persuade existing compact users to upgrade.

Olympus SZ-20
While the µ 9000 series camera was formerly Olympus' only superzoom compact, the firm has seriously upped the ante in its 2011 range with a whole load of different models to choose from.
Pros:
- Nice design and handling
- user-friendly interface
- Good general responsiveness - especially photo-to-photo
- Good picture quality in video mode and excellent spatial stereo sound
Cons:
- Lens gives inconsistent sharpness
- especially at wide-angle settings
- Zoom noise picked up in videos
- Picture quality above 800 ISO
- TN screen (looks black when viewed from below

Olympus SZ-20 review
The Olympus SZ-20 , the ‘SZ' indicates ‘super zoom', is similar to the Casio, with the same 12.5x optical zoom range and 16-megapixel resolution. The Olympus' build feels cheap, despite its appealing glossy retro-futurist design, but it offers something approaching a proper handgrip, which its...
Pros:
- High resolution
- broad zoom range
- reasonably budget priced
- striking retro/futurist design
- 3D photo mode
- fun Magic Effects
Cons:
- Fiddly scroll wheel on backplate instead of shooting mode dial
- variable white balance
- corner softening at extreme wide angle
- soft shots at max zoom

Olympus SZ-20
One of a pair of new Olympus travel zoom cameras, the 12.5x optical zoom, 16 megapixel SZ-20 is the more affordable and comparably modest sibling to the whopping 24x zoom SZ-30. The 'SZ' of course stands for 'super zoom'.
Pros:
- Extensive zoom range
- Loads of features
- Cheaper than most super zooms
- Has 3D shooting mode
Cons:
- General soft images
- Unreliable metering and focussing
