I have been shooting my high end photos using a Nikon d200. It's a great camera with great optics available. I love this camera but carrying it around with a set of fast lenses that cover 12 mm to 200 mm gets tiring.
Pros:
  • Top notch photo quality and dynamic range
  • Super high ISO with low noise
  • Fast shutter response
  • Long Battery life, Compact camera
  • Flip up display allows use from many angles
  • Comes with removable flash.
Cons:
  • Video or On button can be pressed in a pack or bag by accident
  • Menu system takes some getting used to when coming from a DSLR
  • Flip up display is something that can break easily
  • Flash makes the camera larger
  • Many of the zoom lenses are "slow" but this is improving in the mirror-less camera arena.

Olympus E-PL5 review

Successor to the E-PL3 we reviewed this time last year, the E-PL5 has skipped a number to become the fourth generation interchangeable lens Micro Four Thirds system compact from Olympus (the same technology the Panasonic G5 uses).
Pros:
  • Starter option with sophisticated design
  • tilting touchscreen LCD screen aids visibility and makes for intuitive use
  • dedicated video record button falls readily under the thumb
  • image stabilisation built into camera body rather than lens
Cons:
  • Small backplate buttons
  • but criticism otherwise similar to that of its E-PL3 predecessor
  • namely we miss the integral flash and handgrip of the E-PL2
  • and bemoan the plastic-y clip-on flash
  • plastic-y clip on grip and plastic-y kit lens provided in lieu

Olympus Pen E-PL5 review

There have been 24 Panasonic and Olympus micro four thirds system cameras since Panasonic launched the first of its type, the Lumix DMC-G1, in 2008. The compact size of both the cameras and their lenses has made the system extremely popular, particularly among documentary and travel photographers...

Olympus Pen Lite E-PL5 review: Olympus Pen Lite E-PL5

Olympus has churned out a very nice camera in the form of the Pen Lite E-PL5, which will satisfy many photographers looking for an upgrade from their compact camera or smartphone. While much of the focus on Olympus in 2012 has been thanks to the success of the OM-D, it's time for the little Pen cameras to take some of the limelight. The Pen Lite E-PL5 succeeds the earlier Lite E-PL3, and brings a range of improvements and an overhauled design.
Pros:
  • Excellent flip-up touchscreen
  • Good image quality
  • Easy to hold and to use for beginners
  • Flash Air cards for wireless connectivity work well.
Cons:
  • No built-in flash
  • Internal microphone not the best for audio recording
  • Interlaced rather than progressive video recording.

[REVIEW-OLYMPUS PEN E-PL5 compact system camera]

This 16 megapixel camera uses the same sensor as the OMD E-M5, which means good low light, low noise performance and, with the kit lens, fast auto focus. The touch sensitive LCD swivels on one plane. Focus can be set and shutter fired with one touch on the critical point on the screen.

Olympus E-PL5 Review: Top-Notch Guts In An Awkward Body

Olympus has seen great success in the mirrorless camera world with its PEN series. The line's latest iteration is the E-PL5, a micro four thirds camera that shares a few details with its more expensive brother, the OMD-EM5. It shoots beautifully - what's the catch?

Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5

The Olympus E-PL5, otherwise known as the "PEN Lite", is the fourth iteration of the E-PL series. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster ride since this Micro Four Thirds series' conception: we've had moments of brilliance such as the retro design; but brilliance occasionally marred by apparent madness...
Pros:
  • Great image quality as per OM-D E-M5
  • decent build quality
  • useful Art Filters
  • touchscreen
  • full range of Micro Four Thirds lenses
Cons:
  • Flash is hotshoe-mounted only (not necessarily a problem)
  • plastic grip looks a bit cheap
  • continuous autofocus still not quite there
  • ISO 200 minimum
