Like many cameras in this class, the E-PL5 lacks a built-in flash, but it's packaged with a neat little add-on unit which syncs via an ISO-standard hotshoe, although you obviously can't have both this and an EVF on the camera at the same time… not likely to be a massive hardship in the general...

This is my walk-around camera. I am a Nikon guy but my SLR is a pig and I wanted something smaller. For the longest time I hesitated to go the four thirds route because of the smaller sensor but I got over it. This is a wonderful camera. It's small, light and solidly built.

Olympus E-PL5 review
We enjoyed the ability to fire the shutter with a satisfying clunk by tapping where your subject appears on screen. Plus with Art Filter effects that are fun and effective, and warm, bold colours delivered almost on default, apart from a few niggles this is a great step up option for anyone wanting...

Olympus PEN E-PL5 Review
For users upgrading from a simple point-and-shoot to an interchangeable lens camera, the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5 is a very good model to transition to. Out of the box, the E-PL5 takes great photos. It does take time, however, to learn some of the features of the camera, for which there are plenty.
Pros:
- Fast autofocusing system
- Takes very good photos
- Tilting screen for angled shots or self-portraits
- Special effects and filters allow you to take fun pictures
Cons:
- Requires playing around to learn features and settings
- Lens is a bit big on what is otherwise a compact camera
- Higher price tag when there's a comparable Olympus camera with similar features
