Star buy w long legs

Bought this only a couple of months ago, ex-demo model that was being cleared so got it for a steal. For a model nearly two years old there was little expectation of being wowed, just thought it'd be fun to try it out at the price of a discounted mid-range compact.
Pros:
  • Bought this only a couple of months ago, ex-demo model that was being cleared so got it for a steal
  • For a model nearly two years old there was little expectation of being wowed, just thought it'd be fun to try it out at the price of a discounted mid-range compact
Cons:
  • Screen a bit low-rent and can wash-out in bright daylight Processor shows its age when using some art-filters in photo mode
  • and don't even think about using them in video mode

Nice little hybrid p&s dsrl camera

I've only had the camera a week, but I'm loving it so far. I have no photography background. I wanted something that took nicer pics than my canon sd1200IS, but wasn't going to take me months to figure out how to use correctly.
Pros:
  • Compact size, same sensor as Olympus DSLR E-series cameras, easy to use Auto with nice results
  • Manual modes for even more options
Cons:
  • Pricey accessories
  • but you'll have that with all the micro 4/3's camera's
  • so it's not just the E-PL1

Hands On: Olympus PEN E-PL1

The third time's the charm. With the Pen E-PL1 ($600, with 14–42mm f/3.5–5.6 lens), Olympus has finally gotten it all together in a Micro Four Thirds camera: plenty of pixels, attention-grabbing size and styling, and a built-in flash that lets you add light to your scene even when using an accessory...

Awesome micro 4/3 Camera! Awesome Price!

I had been wanting to make the leap from advanced point & shoot to a D-SLR type camera. My biggest hurdle has been camera size, operating complexity and price. Purchased this Olympus E-PL1 refurb after reading so many positive reviews online and I started using it immediately.

Cheapest interchangeable lens camera packs a punch

The Olympus E-PL1 is a somewhat dated Compact Interchangeable Lens Camera (CILC) by today's standard
Pros:
  • Cheap but more powerful and customizable than compacts
Cons:
  • Older LCD screen
  • sensor
  • not quite pocketable

Excellent Picture Quality

Great looking, retro style camera, eye catcher when strapped around neck! Picture quality rivals most DSLR in daylight settings. Cool functions which are easy to use and access. Excellent video capabilities.

An absolute gem

For a camera under £300, the E-PL1 offers the best bangs-per-buck ratio available. I have nothing to add which hasn't already been said by the other positive reviewers on Amazon - I completely agree with them. A fantastic little compact system camera.

E-PL1

It seems like such a simple thing now, but it took Olympus three revisions to finally get its "Pen" Micro Four Thirds series down below (or even close to) the magical $600 mark. Lucky for us, the E-PL1 doesn't skimp on functionality, and in fact expands on the capabilities of the E-P1 and E-P2 with...
Pros:
  • Great value
  • Built-in flash
  • High-end video
Cons:
  • Audible autofocus noise
  • Cheaper construction than pricier versions
  • Harder to access manual controls
