Olympus E-PL1
Welcome a new member to the Olympus Digital PEN series, the E-PL1. Like its siblings, the E-PL1 still has a more retro look to it, but with an added hint of modern flair. With additions like a meatier hand grip, built-in pop-up flash unit and a more compact all aluminium body, the E-PL1 shows its...

Olympus E-PL1
The brand new E-PL1 is the third Micro Four Thirds camera from Olympus, following on from the E-P1 and E-P2 models which were launched in 2009. The Olympus E-PL1 is a more affordable mass-market camera, with a plastic rather than metal chassis, smaller and lighter body, and a redesigned user...

[REVIEW-OLYMPUS E-PL1]
This 12.3 megapixel camera is the third Olympus entry into the Micro Four Thirds camera category (which it shares with Panasonic). The E-PL1 is essentially a reduced specification E-P2. No important operational features have been removed but the construction uses more plastic.
Pros:
- The image quality from the E-P trio is superb
- Colours are rich without being over-saturated
- Skin tones are smooth yet detailed
- Auto focusing and exposure are good with exposure compensation easily to hand
- Movie mode is exceptionally fine
Cons:
- The price now seems high
- compared with the excellent Samsung NX10

Olympus PEN E-PL1 review by Perry Rhodan
Incredible IQ from a compact like m4/3. Up to 800 iso no need for a DSLR for me.
Pros:
- Compact
- great IQ
- easy use
- some excellent optics for m4/3 (eg 9-18 m4/3
Cons:
- Noise over 800, screen could be better and larger
- Really nothing much at this price

First of all, HP Rove is in no way a tablet, but rather an All-in-One computer that you can use away from the desk, but from a distance it can seem like an ordinary tablet. As soon as you get close to...

E-PL1
It seems like such a simple thing now, but it took Olympus three revisions to finally get its "Pen" Micro Four Thirds series down below (or even close to) the magical $600 mark. Lucky for us, the E-PL1 doesn't skimp on functionality, and in fact expands on the capabilities of the E-P1 and E-P2 with...
Pros:
- Great value
- Built-in flash
- High-end video
Cons:
- Audible autofocus noise
- Cheaper construction than pricier versions
- Harder to access manual controls

Hands On: Olympus PEN E-PL1
The third time's the charm. With the Pen E-PL1 ($600, with 14–42mm f/3.5–5.6 lens), Olympus has finally gotten it all together in a Micro Four Thirds camera: plenty of pixels, attention-grabbing size and styling, and a built-in flash that lets you add light to your scene even when using an accessory...
