Olympus OM-D E-M5
Olympus's latest Micro Four Thirds release - the OM-D E-M5 - builds on the brand's heritage. Like the digital PEN (E-P) series that came before it, the OM-D is a digital reimagining of the original Olympus OM series - a 35mm film camera series that was born 40 years ago, and continued to run in one...
Pros:
- It's got the look
- innovative stabilisation system
- fast autofocus
- weather-sealed design
- customisation and detailed menus
- Micro Four Thirds opens door to many lenses
Cons:
- Poor battery life
- pricey
- poor low-light autofocus
- ISO 200 is lowest sensitivity
- image quality similar to Panasonic G3
- continuous/tracking AF not a DSLR-beater
- did we mention the price

Many words have been printed about this diminutive camera and you've no doubt read all the technical discussion. But what can you DO with one Ergonomics: Oly were always pretty good with ergonomics - more shooting, less fiddling and the EM-5 is great, given the size restraints.

By far the best compact that I have used, picture quality A1, and settings to compare with anything that I have seen.

Olympus OM-D E-M5
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 is the latest Micro Four Thirds compact system camera from Olympus and its first with a built-in viewfinder. Announced in May 2012, the E-M5 design is based on the popular and, for it's time, diminutive Olympus OM series of SLRs, from the late 1970s.
Pros:
- Tough weather-sealed build quality
- Outstanding High ISO noise performance
- Great quality viewfinder and tilting OLED touch-screen
- 5-axis image stabilisation which works with any lens
- 2
- 3
- 5 and 7-frame auto bracketing
Cons:
- Screen only tilts and there's no touch functions in movie modes
- Distracting whirring noise from stabilisation motor
- No built-in mic socket
- Flash unit clips-on rather then being built-in
- Continuous AF not as consistent as a phase-detect system

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Review: A Classic Revived
If I were in the market for a mirrorless, interchangeable lens compact digital and was not wedded to any particular manufacturer or system, the E-M5 would probably be it. Of all the other cameras in this class that I've already reviewed, I like this one the best.
Pros:
- Good images and video
- DSLR-like feature set
- Compact
- stylish form factor
Cons:
- Costly body-only configuration
- grip and lenses add expense
- A 2x crop factor doesn't lend itself to wide angle shooting

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Review
As I have pointed out in the beginning of this review, I have been looking for a good mirrorless camera for a while now, mainly to complement my professional DSLR gear. While I absolutely love the image quality, speed and capabilities of my Nikon DSLR cameras, my biggest issue to date has been...

Olympus OM-D E-M5 review
Since the introduction of the Olympus Pen E-P1 in June 2009, the compact system camera (CSC) has taken the world by storm. The compact-sized Pen E-P1 was a clear homage to the original Olympus Pen series – a half-frame camera that spanned more than two decades – but with the added benefit of digital...
