Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III review: Ideal for amateurs

If you're seeking a good-looking interchangeable lens mirrorless camera that can capture great shots in reasonable lighting conditions, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III does a great job. We took it out on a number of fishing trips, a week-long holiday, and it was a great fit in a small travel bag.

Great retro style; Autofocus improvements; Decent image quality; Lots of Micro Four thirds lenses to access and grow into your photography; 4K video capture

A modest update over the Mark II model; Still no 20MP sensor; Plastic top/bottom plates; Complex menu system is tricky to navigate; No mic/headphones ports

Olympus OM-D E-M10 review

How do you follow-up the award-winning OM-D E-M1 and E-M5 With a more affordable offering that retains the quality construction and classic design of its predecessors, naturally.

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III Review

The E-M10 III is an attractive camera that does a good job of making its range of capabilities accessible. It's flexible and enjoyable and relatively easy to shoot good 4K video with. Its unreliable focus tracking and modest resolution take a little gloss off a camera that gives plenty of room to grow into.

Increasingly keen beginner photographers;

Sports shooters or anyone demanding dependable autofocus;

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III Review

Attractive retro design; Compact body; Excellent JPEG image quality with lovely colour rendition; Superb in-body image stabilisation works with every lens; Fast, accurate autofocus with static subjects;

Over-simplified in-camera raw conversion; Less reliable autofocus with moving subjects; Sensor dated compared to APS-C competitors;

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III

The just-released Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III camera is a small but significant upgrade to the E-M10 Mark II , which we reviewed two years ago. While it retains the 16-megapixel resolution of its predecessors, its TruePic VIII processor and support of fast SD cards enables 4K movie recording plus...

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III review

Going solely on out-and-out image quality, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III is left wanting compared to its rivals (though a boost in resolution to 20MP would have negated this a little).

Premium finish; Excellent EVF; Compact proportions; Effective IS system

16MP starting to look a little dated; Minor update to the Mark II; Focus-tracking could be better

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III is a new mid-range compact system camera. The E-M10 Mark III has a 5-axis image stabilisation system equivalent to 4 steps of shutter speed, 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor, 4K video capture (30p, 25p or 24p) and the latest TruePic VIII processing unit (as used...

Got this camera mainly for travel. It's definitely a downgrade from the mark ii version of the camera but I wanted 4k video. The additional focusing points is an added bonus. Not as good as the Panasonic bodies (due to their implementation of DFD).
