Powerful camera

I have had the camera for a few weeks and haven't been able to fully explore all the features, however I have been impressed by the performance so far. Well balanced and easy to operate with even bigger hands, incredible in body stabilisation, really pleased with my purchase.

Professional Camera but ease of use for most

An excellent, looking and quality camera, designed with professional features but easy to use by most existing camera users. Has a wide range constant lenses with a good variety of prime lenses. The constant feature ensures for eg that an f2.8 zoom maintains it's f2.8 at all focal lengths.

Escape from comical cameras

I bought the earlier EM1 on eBay as a toe in the water on my return to photography and loved it so the natural progression was the mark II. There is much to like but if you are reading this you have already read the reviews.

An absolutely wonderful camera! They changed me from a Nikon D90 to this so easy to get a little hysterical over how good everything is with this camera when it is so very recent but everything is really on top.

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Review

The Olympus OM-D E-M5($499.00 at Amazon) knocked our socks off when we reviewed it last year, to the point where we wondered if Olympus could do any better. The OM-D E-M1 ($1,399.99 direct, body only) is what the company came up with, and the improvements include a larger, sharper EVF, built-in Wi-Fi, an improved control layout, a deeper handgrip, and faster focus speed with legacy Four Thirds SLR lenses—and that's just scratching the surface. Like the E-M5, which is supplemented by this new model rather than replaced, the E-M1 earns a 5-star rating and our Editors' Choice award for high-end mirrorless cameras. It's just that good. Design The E-M1($999.00 at Amazon) is one of the larger Micro Four Thirds bodies that you'll handle, but it's compact compared with SLRs with comparable performance. Measuring 3.7 by 5.1 by 2.5 inches (HWD), the camera weighs in at 1.1 pounds—a little bigger than the Samsung NX20( at Amazon), which packs a larger APS-C image sensor into a body that's 3...

With gorgeous images—even in low light, incredible speed, and a wealth of high-end features, the Olympus OM-D E-M1 is the best Micro Four Thirds camera that money can buy. It's an easy Editors' Choice award winner.

Impressive image quality, even at high ISO settings; Dust-proof, splash-proof design; Solid build quality; Excellent ergonomics; Best-in-class EVF; Wi-Fi; In-camera art filters and color control; Robust time lapse feature; Quick autofocus; 10.5fps burst shooting; In-camera image stabilization; Sharp, tilting touch screen

On the pricey side; No built-in flash; No support for 60fps video

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Review

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Review – The Olympus OM-D E-M1 is the second model in the retro-styled OM-D series, sitting above the E-M5 at the top of the range. It looks to combine the best of a DSLR and system camera in a single package, so read our Olympus OM-D E-M1 review to find out if it succeeds

Build quality; Electronic viewfinder is excellent; Fast and responsive AF; Image quality

JPEG files a little over-processed at higher sensitivities

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 is a fantastic mirrorless camera that is designed for the advanced or professional shooter. Those without sophisticated photography knowledge will get easily lost in the numerous features and functionality.

Great image quality; Weather proofed; Awesome grip; Great autofocus; Great viewfinder and LCD screen; DSLR-like feature set

Noise can be an issue at high ISOs; Cost; No second memory card slot

Olympus E-M1

The Olympus E-M1 builds upon the legacy of the outstanding OM-D E-M5, adding not only a ton of features geared for pros and advanced enthusiasts, but also an on-chip, phase-detect autofocusing system that delivers the responsiveness that Olympus Four Thirds DSLR owners have long been waiting for.

Exceptional rugged, weather-proof, professional build; Lightning fast contrast-detect AF, and phase-detect AF that makes Four Thirds lenses far more responsive; Tons of useful physical controls with immense customizability; Arguably the best image quality of any Micro Four Thirds camera we've tested...

Bigger and heavier than many other compact system cameras; Most expensive Micro Four Thirds camera on the market to date; Menu system and customization options have a steep learning curve; No optical low-pass filter means greater risk of moire; No built-in flash, Larger and heavier than most compact...

Olympus OM-D E-M1 Full Review
