, this means this camera should be, and thankfully is capable of the highest quality photos of any Micro Four Thirds camera, and when used with high quality prime lenses, the difference can be seen, although is quite subtle at times, with the previous model, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 already providing...
Best ever image quality from Micro Four Thirds; Support for both Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds lenses; In camera HDR preview and creation; Wi-Fi remote shooting improved; Improved handling and DSLR styling; 10fps continuous shooting; with good number before slowing down; Impressive 5-axis image...
Focus peaking not available in video mode; Video options better on other cameras (GH3; High price when bought with kit lenses; Lacks automatic panoramic creation mode
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 was one of the most popular cameras of last year, owing to the combination of an impressive specification, attractive retro looks and excellent image quality. The E-M1 looks to pick up where the E-M5 left off.
Superb electronic viewfinder; Responsive AF system; Good image quality; Sturdy build
JPEG files somewhat over-processed
At the Photokina trade show in September 2016, Olympus was one of several brands to announce it was developing a new flagship camera. Now the finished product has arrived, in the shape of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II.
+ Extraordinary in-body image stabilisation system allows handholding at unprecedented shutter speeds; + Class-leading continuous shooting performance; + Impressive continuous autofocus and tracking; + Superb build quality and handling
Menus and configuration hugely over-complicated; Image quality lags behind APS-C peers; High price compared to its closest rivals
? Updated: Firmware 2.0 page added The Olympus E-M1 is the latest addition to the Olympus compact system camera (CSC) line-up and it's aimed at professional and enthusiast photographers. It doesn't replace the Olympus OM-D E-M5, but sits above it.
The E-M1 sits at the top of the Olympus CSC range, and the specs and the price reflect this. It's a solidly-built camera and the retro-inspired design is blended well with the contemporary technology.
Having replaced a Canon 5DSR system and lenses for a system that I can carry in its entirety for up to 6hrs + a day I must say I am impressed. The things this camera cannot do you can write on a postage stamp, for those photographers who like settings and menu's this camera is for you!
Durable; Great Features; Great Picture Quality; Lightweight
I have recently sold all of my Canon gear to purchase the M1 Mark II and 3 pro lenses. The initial test shots from the camera using each of the 3 lenses are superb! It's solidly built, very responsive and the image quality is on par with the Canon Mark iii.
Works great, and is very fast. I use this with the Olympus 75 f1.8 to shoot hockey, and the AF with the latest firmware is fantastic. Much better AF than any of Olympus's previous efforts including their SLR's.
Fantastic replacement for the E5 and solves all of the issues I didn't like with the E-M5. Better build, weather sealing, built-in grip, better AF with FT lenses and slightly better video.
