Great wide angle experience, be a millionaire is not necessary.
Following the micro 4/3 philosophy, is a lightweight wideangle zoom, an angle of view comparable with a 18-36 equivalent in 135 mm or full frame. The cost difference is much wider than the quality diference, comparing with other micro 4/3 wide zoom as Panasonic too.
Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f4.0-5.6
The new Micro Four Thirds cameras from Olympus and Panasonic may have grabbed all the headlines recently, but Olympus at least seems committed to carrying on with the regular Four Thirds format too.
Great lens
I have just purchased this product and have carried out some test shots. I am delighted with the results. The sharpness is incredible and the colour rendition is very good.I have attached it to my Olympus Pen E-P3 and it matches up perfectly to the camera.- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
Why Didn't I Replace This Lens Sooner
I purchased another copy of this lens in 2011 & had it for about a year when it was stolen when I lived in Uruguay. I love this lens! If you like wide angle lenses & have a micro 4/3 camera you will not be disappointed. I don't know why I waited so long to replace it.
Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 lens review
The Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 is a lightweight, compact Four Thirds lens gets the What Digital Camera review treatment- Lightweight and very affordable
- Softness and sluggish AF
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 Lens
The M Zuiko Digital 9-18mm f/4-5.6 was announced at PMA 2010 as the second ultra-wide zoom lens to be released for Micro Four Thirds system cameras (the first was Panasonic's Lumix G Vario 7-14mm lens).- You want a lightweight
- wide-angle zoom lens that covers most types of subjects
- You'd like a lens that requires no readjustment when you fit polarisers and graduated filters
- You require quiet autofocusing for shooting video
- You need a lens with adequate flatness of field for architectural
- You need close focusing and macro capabilities
- You require excellent edge-to-edge sharpness.
OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18 mm f/4.0-5.6 Wide-angle Zoom Lens
- Nice and sharp but some ca on the edges that are easy to correct with acr or Lightroom
- I have not yet got used to the folding mech and zoom is opposit to Panasonic Len's but I'll get used to it
- not a big problem
Good, highly portable
Unbelievably small size for the scene it covers. Contrast is good, detail is moderate (i.e. detail would begin to get fuzzy after approx two levels of zoom). This happens on most ultrawides and cropped sensors due to the span packed on a small space.
Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6
With the lens attached to an Olympus E-P2 camera body, focusing is essentially silent and surprisingly quick too, thanks to a solution whereby only one compact and lightweight lens element moves on focus.
