Olympus M.Zuiko Digital F1.8 Lens review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital F1.8 Lens review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital 25mm f/1.8

The Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital 25mm f/1.8 is a fast standard prime lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. Offering a 25mm focal length that's equivalent to 50mm in 35mm terms, a bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 and a silent auto-focus motor, the M.ZUIKO Digital 25mm f/1.8 is well suited to unobtrusive...

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8

Announced with the OM-D E-M10 at the CES show in January, the M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 fills a gap in Olympus's Premium series of fast prime lenses, fitting between the 17mm f/1.8 and 45mm f/1.8 lenses with the 75mm f/1.8 lens completing the set.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital F1.8 Lens review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Oh so fine

This was my Christmas present to me. I love this lens. So far I've taken it to family get-togethers and museums. The most challenging was the Charles River Museum of Industry. Very busy backgrounds and a very wide range of lighting conditions let me take the lens through its paces.

Perfect 'Main' Lens

This is my new 'default' lens for my E-PL5. The perfect combination of photographic speed, bokeh, compactness, light weight, and no-compromises sharpness. While not exactly a macro lens, being able to get as close as 9 inches or so is nice and I have gotten some decent bug shots as a result.

Close Focus; Compact; F18; Fast Focus; Lightweight; Sharpness

none

Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 Review

The Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 ($399.99 direct)($299.00 at Amazon) is one of a handful of standard-angle prime lenses currently available for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, and the first entry from Olympus. It's priced attractively, but it doesn't capture as much light as the Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 ($599.99) or the manual focus Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95. Its optical quality is excellent; images are sharp from edge to edge, even at f/1.8, and distortion is minimal. It's a lens that's deserving of accolades, and earns our Editors' Choice award. The lens is fairly compact, but it's by no means a pancake. It measures 1.6 by 2.2 inches (HD), weighs 4.8 ounces, and supports 46mm filters. A reversible hood is included; it bayonets around the front of the lens, but you'll need to remove a decorative ring to mount it. The M.Zuiko can focus on objects as close as 9.4 inches, which hardly makes it a macro design—if you want to focus closer, consider the M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm...

The Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 is an excellent standard-angle lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras, and an affordable alternative to Panasonic's lens.

Wide aperture; Impeccably sharp; Minimal distortion; Compact; Includes lens hood

Lacks focus clutch; Not weather sealed
