The Olympus E-5; Welcome To Four Thirds Heaven
When it was launched in October 2007, the E-3 broke new ground. It wasn't a me-too SLR; it carried the Four Thirds format into new directions that were uniquely Olympus.

Judged purely on its own merits the E-5 is a good and capable camera in most situations. But is it good enough to warrant swapping systems from Canon, Nikon, Pentax or Sony to Olympus?
Pros:
- Very good resolution at low ISO sensitivity settings (rivaling higher pixel-count cameras
- Reliable metering and white balance systems
- Excellent JPEG color
- Tank-like body that feels like it can take years of abuse
- Large
- bright viewfinder showing 100% coverage
- Useful pitch/roll electronic spirit...
Cons:
- Uncompetitive high ISO performance (when compared to APS-C peers
- Between 0.5-1EV less highlight dynamic range than APS-C competitors (but better than E-3
- Unpredictable AF in multi-point mode
- Maximum framerate of 5fps unimpressive compared to competition
- Slow AF in poor light
- Contrast-detection...

Olympus E-5 Review
Launched with little fanfare and then, according to Olympus, quickly gaining favour with the market, the Olympus E-5 DSLR should attract much attention down the track. Using the Four Thirds system, the E-5 is a little startling in its size and weight.

- Lower resolution than competition

Great camera, well laid out controls, great quality
I moved up from my E3 to this camera and was delighted with the increased picture quality. I shoot mainly in manual mode with RAW output as I enjoy the challenge of getting the shot as I see it.

Amazing Camera
I had been using an Olympus E510 for the last 5 years and wanted to upgrade the camera, I am a published photographer but its not my main source of income. I thought about changing systems as the Canon or Nikon's out there looked a good way to go for someone working at my level.
