The wait is finally over, as the keenly awaited Olympus E-5 is finally here. It is the third generation camera of the hugely popular professional SLR series. The original E-1 had hit the stores way back in the year 2003. The E-3 came four years after that in the year 2007, and now we have the E-5.

Olympus E-5 digital SLR
Olympus' E-5 is the flagship camera in the company's range, and it's aimed at enthusiast photographers as well as professionals. It's a bulky camera (as most good digital SLRs are) and it's quite hard to use the first time you pick it up. However, it has a tonne of features and it's very quick.
Pros:
- Fast burst mode
- fast focusing
- useful Live View mode and articulating screen
Cons:
- Noisy images
- poor high ISO performance
- hard to use

Upgrade from E420 and two other Olympus cameras
I purchased this camera 06.09.2011 having read and studied technical details and thought that it would be difficult to use. However, I have found it easier than the other cameras (perhaps with my past experience of the other three) and is very satisfying to use/operate.

Exceptional camera, a little pricey, having upgraded from a 510, they is light years apart. nice size and weight and excellent ergonomics.

I just love my camera!!! I am learning how to use the lens and how to manipulate them. Im far from being consididered a good photogpher but Im am definitly hooked and want to keep learning how to improve! I love the art filters that are built into the camera and I enjoy the live view.

Olympus E-5

Pros:
- Full environmental seals
- fast autofocus
- great image quality
- tilt/shift screen with Live view
Cons:
- Menus are too complex
- control layout a little cumbersome
- lacks customisability

King of the 4/3rds bodies
I have the Leica Digilux 3 but it is only 7.5MP and the Olympus is 12.3. Also, the Leica isn't weatherproof and ISO maximum is 1600 where the E5 maxes at 6400 and i will use this for indoor sports such as basketball. The Leica lenses are interchangeable with this Olympus body and vice versa.
