NZXT Phantom 820 Case Review

KitGuru says: Extensive expansion options, good watercooling support, impressive cable management, and a unique style make the Phantom 820 an excellent choice to an enthusiast wanting one of the best cases that money can buy.

Plenty of fan mounts; Four fans included; Good watercooling options; Very good expansion options; Sensible side panel window positioning and size; Excellent cable management options; Attractive and unique style

Very flimsy drive trays; Fan controller requires patience and practise

Meet the new NZXT flagship case. Phantom 820 reviewed

The NZXT Phantom 820 is a flagship in every sense of the word. It's big, it's heavy, it's extraordinarily well built, and it's bold. It screams "I'm a custom computer builder and I love my PC" when it's all lit up and whirring away.

NZXT Phantom 820 review

It's rare for a case to stand out these days, as the case market is littered with average performers, but the Phantom 820 stood out in many ways. The case has almost every feature you could ask of it, and more importantly they're implemented in sensible ways rather than just thrown in to bulk out...

The NZXT Phantom 820 Enthusiast Full Tower Chassis

As a kid I loved reading comics, especially the ones about super heroes. One of my favorites is the Phantom, an American adventure comic strip created by Lee Falk, also creator of Mandrake the Magician.

NZXT Phantom 820 Full-Tower Gaming Chassis

If you're looking for a chassis that already comes with a built in fan controller, internal LEDs, excellent cooling potential, great cable management and even the possibility to run extreme gaming configurations, you should check out the NZXT Phantom 820.

Internal/External LED kit with On/Off capability; and Hue Adjustment; SD Card Reader built in; Fan Controller Built in for 4 different sets of fans (12 Fans Total; 0% to 100% fan settings; Great balance between looks; performance and eye candy; Cable Management; with proper rubber grommets ; plenty...

Paint scratches easily; Hard to take off Top Cover; Top Fan Filters not easily Accessible; Fairly expensive for an average Joe; even though it comes with lots of features

NZXT Phantom 820

NZXT chassis seem to get better with each revision, but the company has a habit of leaving room for a couple of small improvements. The Phantom 820 is a continuation of that trend; it's arguably NZXT's most impressive full-tower solution to date, yet there are a few elements that could be enhanced.

Unfortunately, many PC enthusiasts tend to skimp on the chassis when building a new system. After all, you can get a decent case with adequate cooling for next to nothing these days, making a splurge on a $200-plus, premium case seem unnecessary.

NZXT Phantom 820 review

The all new Phantom 820 is a smack-down home run in terms of design and cooling. I truly adore this chassis as from A to Z this simply is a very well thought through chassis with all the features and space you'll need for a long time -- and that's next to all the new features and bling.

NZXT Phantom 820 Full Tower Case Review

Whew! This is one big case. And despite all the accommodations made for air coolers (top-down air intake, for example), one gets the impression this case was really designed for water coolers. However, you can certainly put fans and radiators together in the Phantom 820 with room to spare.

Plenty of room to build a system with a wide variety of motherboards; Plenty of room for radiators or fans or both – your choice; Filters for two 200 mm top intake fans; Easy to work in; A built-in lighting system; A window through which to view your lit-up components; Comes with three 200 mm fans...

Part of the bottom filter set must be pulled out from the back; which means you must move this heavy case to remove and clean that filter

NZXT Phantom 820 Full-Tower Chassis

Today I'll take a close look at a new Phantom case from NZXT. These guys are known for creating some bold, high-quality cases. They also provide a variety of other products that can be found here (insert link to NZXT product page).

Lots of room; Many options for ease of routing; Integrated fan controller and lighting system; Manufactured to accommodate any type of cooling setup; Sleek design; Many tool-less connections

Price puts it out of range of some enthusiasts; Would have liked to see another 8 pin ATX cable; Would have liked to see a fan included for the swivel point
