What's Good: Large 3.5-inch touchscreen, OS has a great deal of potential, good battery life for a smartphone. What's Bad: Earpiece volume is low and user interface needs work before it reaches mainstream appeal.

Nokia N900

The N900 is Nokia's latest Linux-based internet phone. It is heavier than most similar phones we have looked at, but it does combine a large 3.5in touch-sensitive screen with a full (if small) Qwerty keyboard. That also makes it bulkier – at nearly 2cm it's much thicker than similar phones.
