Nokia N900 review
A good phone that shows Nokia has more strings to its smartphone bow than just Symbian

Nokia N900 Linux smartphone
Some may find the size a concern, but it's mainly a consequence of accommodating slide-out keyboard. In use, the keyboard, despite its compact layout, works very well and the camera is head and shoulders above what you'll find on the iPhone.

Nokia N900
The Nokia N900 is the next evolution of the company's Internet Table , and don't let its smaller size fool you. It delivers more power, adds phone capabilities, and has one of most robust mobile Web browsers on the market today.
Pros:
- The Nokia N900 offers a powerful mobile Web browser, plenty of storage, a 5-megapixel camera, and an ultrasharp display
- It's also fast, multitasks well, and has excellent call quality
- Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, and GPS are all onboard
Cons:
- The user interface isn't very intuitive
- Ovi Store for the N900 isn't live yet, limiting the number of available apps, and it doesn't sync with Exchanger Server 2003
- The phone is a bit bulky and not all apps work in portrait mode

Nokia N900
And now for something completely different. The N900 is Nokia's first Maemo OS smartphone and it's their first Maemo version 5 device. Maemo is a Linux-based OS, and prior versions powered Nokia's non-phone Internet tablets like the N770 , N800 and N810 .
Pros:
- Best web browser on a mobile phone
- elegant multi-tasking
Cons:
- Portrait orientation not available in most apps
- WiFi kills battery life

The Maemo OS shows promise, but the competition is hot and the N900 just fails to make the grade

Nokia N900
Nokia's Series 60 operating system has been around since 2001, so it's perhaps not all that surprising that when you place a Series 60 handset next to an iPhone or Android phone the OS looks a little tired.

Nokia N900 smartphone
Running an advanced, Linux-based operating system called Maemo 5, Nokia's N900 is certainly an interesting device. Foremost an Internet tablet and capable of full multitasking, the Nokia N900 smartphone will definitely impress early adopters and gadget gurus, but for others the experience will feel...
Pros:
- Outstanding Web browser
- responsive screen
- comfortable keyboard
- excellent multitasking
- customisable desktop
Cons:
- Bulky
- lacking in style
- questionable build quality
- only works in landscape mode
- interface commands are inconsistent

Nokia N900 Review
Nokia N900 is the final product which opens up a new path for the Finnish smartphone producer. After Google, which launched its new open source operating system for mobile phones, Nokia raised the stakes a few months later with its own vision, which is called Maemo.
Pros:
- Maemo operating system is really a hit, even though not that complex and developed as Android, it really shows potential
- Add to that the excellent Web-browsing capabilities, HSDPA connectivity, excellent touchscreen, as well as decent camera and you got yourself a really good smartphone.
Cons:
- I think the only drawback of the phone is the low life autonomy of the battery, and the high price as well, which could be a setback for those that have a limited budget
- Also, limited number of third-party software is an important disadvantage, if we are to compare it with Android.
