Review of Nokia's N9, its first and last MeeGo powered smartphone
The Nokia N9 was announced to the world in June of this year. By October, it was replaced with the successor to Nokia's throne, the Lumia 800. Dan takes a look at the unique N9 and its equally different hardware and software in our full review of Nokia's only MeeGo smartphone.
Pros:
- Gorgeous hardware design
- excellent display
- solid camera
Cons:
- Weak app ecosystem
- occasional performance bugs
- you can't buy it in most markets

I have been using the N9 for about a year, and looking back I've been mostly happy with it. Sometimes even ecstatic (design and software), but a few times it left me wanting more (app space and battery life).

Great SmartPhone
This is a solid unlocked GSM phone for those looking for something different. It also is not considered a smartphone by AT&T and thus you do not have to have a data plan. Shame that the Nokia killed the Meego OS so apps/support are sparse but hopefully Jolla Sailfish will change that.
Pros:
- ? Responsive OS with the exception of social media ? Long battery life – usually 3-4 hours drains it 10% ? Display clarity is great thanks to ClearBlack
- setting the phone to vivid colors makes it pop even more ? Comes with case, although it is hard to put on/off & is rather thin so protects mostly...
Cons:
- ? Lack of supports/apps – this may change when Jolla Sailfish gets going ? Sensitive screen – constantly selecting something when I am just scrolling ? Volume a tad on the low side
- especially the speakerphone ? Syncing to Outlook – does not work with the latest version of Nokia Suite so had to...

was a good phone until I broke it and couldn't find a single place that could fix it. switched to Samsung phones after this one due to bigger market. but it was a good phone, it lasted me a while too, mainly my fault for not being able to keep it for longer time because I'm so clumsy =(

Cons:
- Battery life suffers with always-on communications
- Loads of missing smartphone features

Nokia N9 review
The Nokia N9 is the most beautiful smartphone I've reviewed all year. How wonderful it would be to leave it at that, to herald the N9 as Nokia's return to relevance in the high-end smartphone market.

Nokia N9 smartphone
The Nokia N9 is the best looking and slickest smartphone Nokia has ever built. It's a combination of superbly built hardware and slick, easy to use, elegant software. However, it's priced too high to compete with iOS and Android alternatives and we can't help but feel it's about 18 months too late. Beautifully simple. That's the marketing tag-line for Nokia's promotion of the N9 smartphone, the first and last Nokia phone to run the MeeGo operating system. The N9 is the best looking and slickest device the company has released in a number of years. Although it can't compete with Android's flexibility, or iOS's number and quality of third-party apps, the Nokia N9's great design, superb display and ease of use makes it a valid alternative if you're looking for something different. It's just a shame it's so late to market and is essentially running a dead operating system.
Pros:
- Fantastic design and build quality
- Bright and clear screen
- Slick and easy to use software
Cons:
- Limited third-party apps
- First and last MeeGo phone
- Below average battery life

Nokia N9
The Nokia N9 is Nokia's last hurrah before they make the switch to being a Windows Phone manufacturer. It runs their customized version of the MeeGo OS that's based on Linux, and it's a thoroughly modern and beautifully designed touch-based OS.
Pros:
- Simply gorgeous design
- modern and enjoyable OS
- lovely AMOLED display
Cons:
- Expensive
- not many will be made
- Nokia doesn't intend to continue developing MeeGo OS

This is a premium smartphone and holding it in your hand alone will prove its worth. Sadly, it is let down by Meego and various design-flaws which spit in the face of its beautiful design. I want to love the N9, I want to cradle it in my arms and call it my own.
Pros:
- Stunningly designed Incredible sound Brilliant touch interface
Cons:
- Instantly outdated Meego OS Lack of apps Childish interface
