Nokia N86

I liked this phone when I first got it, and in a funny way still do. It was a bit weighty, but felt solid and dependable. However, in less than an hour of getting it out of the box it froze on me. A simple address book edit was apparently too much for this all bells and whistles comms hub.

Heavy and faulty

A fairly heavy phone for what it is. Also has a very dodgy charging point. I got one of these on contract about 12 months ago. In that time it has been to have the charger point replaced/repaired 3 times. I got so fed up of it I resorted to not using it.

Nokia N86

I got this on an 18month contract for £25 a month. I am pleased to say that my contract recently came to an end and i no longer have this phone. When i first received it i felt that it looked quite bulky and old fashioned. Even though this slide-phone is small, it is heavy.

Had this phone for over a year now and can't wait to dispose of it !!!! Unfortunately gotta wait for contract to end in 10 months time !!! It's really getting on my nerves....I've already changed the battery once but the power still runs out quick..
Pros:
  • Good camera (& flash)
  • alarm
  • calender
  • texting
Cons:
  • Battery life (even after switching to 2G) and it keeps freezing and turning off suddenly which makes it really unrelliable!!!!

Defect Product

Seems like the battery cannot support firmware updates then it happens short circuit!
Pros:
  • I really disappoint with this defect product
Cons:
  • I was so excited to having this new phone
  • I tried to call my friend, they said somehow cannot hear clear from me
  • So, I tried to install the PC suite for this phone and it asked me to update firmware for it.

It's been almost a year since the first mobile phone with an eight-megapixel camera sensor from the likes of Samsung and Sony Ericsson was introduced to consumers - a year that is long in the making of Nokia's first similar device, the Nokia N86.

Nokia N86 8MP review Review

Cast in the same mould as N-series classics like the N95, the N86 8MP smart phone doesn't break any new ground but is a solid example of what Nokia does best. Sporting an attractive two-way slider design, it offers tonnes of features, chief among which is a fantastic 8-megapixel camera
Pros:
  • Excellent photo quality
  • Dedicated music and gaming buttons
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • GPS
  • Great selection of apps available
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • FM and Internet radio
Cons:
  • Nokia's Ovi Store is still weak
  • User interface looks dated
  • Not the easiest phone to use
  • Connecting to Wi-Fi is fiddly
  • Keys are too small

Nokia N86

The Nokia N86 8MP first made its appearance at GSMA 2009 and stepped up as the most advanced camera phone in the company's N series of multimedia smartphones. Nokia even went as far as to say that it could replace your standalone point-and-shoot camera.
Pros:
  • The Nokia N86 8MP features an 8-megapixel camera that takes excellent pictures and include advanced options, such as a wide-angle lens and variable aperture
  • It's also a capable smartphone and offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support
Cons:
  • The N86 is expensive
  • Compared with the competition, the phone's display is a bit low resolution and the software feels outdated

Nokia N86 8MP

There's a lot to like about the N86 8MP; it combines everything we loved about Nokia's N-Series since the N95, mixing great hardware with a solid platform and Nokia's growing suite of Ovi apps - but it's hard to fall in love with it too.
Pros:
  • Solid construction
  • Great keypad
  • Good 8MP camera
  • 8GB storage
Cons:
  • 2.6-inch screen is small for this price range
  • Earpiece speaker was muffled during tests
