The phone and its Direct Push software did what is said on the label, but the text to screen ratio and absence of a QWERTY keyboard or touch screen made it too cumbersome for practical email use, in my opinion.

Nokia N79

After the recent onslaught of phones that offer full frontal touchscreens and 8-megapixel cameras it is a bit of a relief to spend a week with an ordinary looking, candybar handset that has a standard numberpad where you expect to find it.

Nokia N79

: Portions of the Features section were taken from our review of the Nokia N96, since both smartphones share a number of similar features. The Nokia N79 might get overshadowed by some of its flashier N series siblings like the Nokia N96 but it should not be ignored.
Pros:
  • The Nokia N79 offers a slim and attractive design and packs in a load of multimedia features, including a 5-megapixel camera that takes excellent photos
  • The Symbian smartphone also features integrated Wi-Fi, U.S
  • 3G support, Bluetooth, and GPS
Cons:
  • The N79's navigation controls and dialpad are a little cramped
  • and call quality was a bit mixed

Nokia N79

As one of the new member of Nokia Nseries, the N79 is well defined as a fully loaded multimedia computer that combines intelligent and brilliant design. The N79′s keypad and screen bezel are available in two colours: Canvas white and Seal grey, with the Espresso Brown Xpress-On smart cover as a...

The Nokia N79 is a feature-packed phone with an old school twist -- exchangeable covers. The N79 is available for free from £25 per month. While the inclusion of an FM Radio is fairly common in mobiles these days, the N79 also has an FM transmitter, which enables you to play tracks through a car...

  • intelligent covers
  • Wi-Fi
  • HSDPA
  • GPS
Cons:
  • Keypad could be more defined

Nokia N79 review: Nokia N79

The Nokia N79 delivers extensive features and performs well. Unlike other N-series handsets, the N79 comes with covers that are recognised by the phone, which changes its theme accordingly. It's not the most exciting feature ever, but it does add something different. Overall, we enjoyed using the N79. Our only real complaint is the slightly flat keypad If you're a fan of exchangeable covers, the Nokia N79 might just be the phone for you. Boasting similar features to the Nokia N95, the N79 uses an intelligent-casing system that adds a little extra to an otherwise mundane accessory. The Nokia N79 will be made available soon for free on a monthly contract.
Pros:
  • Exchangable, intelligent covers
  • Wi-Fi
  • HSDPA
  • GPS.
Cons:
  • Keypad could be more defined.

Nokia N79

Nokia's Nseries family just keeps getting bigger.  Packed with interesting features, the new N79 has a lot in common with the N85, which is, in our eyes, the current market leader in this field.
Pros:
  • Small and light
  • Battery life
  • Personasiable
  • Decent audio and photo
  • FM radio transmitter / regular 3.5 mm headphone jack
Cons:
  • Small screen
  • Not good for web browsing
  • Small keyboard
  • Speakers not very powerful
  • LED Flash

Nokia N79 review

Nokia's Nseries phones have all been feature-packed wonders of miniaturisation. Even so, they've tended to be on the chunky side, but this latest version is the smallest yet. The Nokia N79 could almost be called svelte at just 15mm thick and weighing in at 97g (5g lighter than its predecessor, the...

Nokia N79

Packed to the rafters with everything you'd expect on a high-end device, the Nokia N79 is an impressive offering. As you'd find on a high-end device, there's GPS (with Nokia Maps preinstalled), the N-Gage gaming interface, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, TV out and an FM transmitter for streaming music to your Hi-Fi.
Pros:
  • A fully featured mobile in all aspects
Cons:
  • Cheap build quality with quirky keys
