Nokia Asha 306 review: Nokia Asha 306

With the old Series 40 software on board, the Nokia Asha 306 is already a smart phone with usability strings attached. But it's biggest shortcoming is no 3G, which throttles speeds when you're not able to use Wi-Fi. It's also nowhere near cheap enough to rival a budget Android. Avoid like the plague. Nokia reserves the razzle-dazzle for its Windows Phone-powered Lumia handsets, but the once Mighty Finn is still plugging away selling a cheaper range of Asha phones, based on its old-as-the-hills Series 40 software.
Pros:
  • 40 EA games can be freely downloaded.
Cons:
  • No 3G
  • Series 40 operating system is laggy, cryptic and error prone
  • Small low-res screen
  • Terrible camera
  • Less extensive app choice than Android.

Nokia Asha 306 review Review

The Asha 306 is a very basic kind of smart phone but it's biggest shortcoming is not having 3G, which throttles web browsing speeds when you're out and about. If you're a fan of Nokia's Series 40 software and like the look of its all-touch Ashas, you're better off plumping for the 311 , which has 3G...
Pros:
  • 40 EA games can be freely downloaded
Cons:
  • No 3G
  • Series 40 operating system is laggy
  • cryptic and error prone
  • Small low-res screen
  • Terrible camera
  • Less extensive app choice than Android

Nokia Asha 306 review

Nokia has been busy talking up its new Lumia handsets - fancy Windows 8 models that sit right at the top of the phone manufacturer's table. But further down you find the Asha range. The Asha handsets don't have highfalutin features and they aren't really smartphones.
Pros:
  • Reasonable battery life
Cons:
  • Low resolution screen
  • Poor touch responsiveness
  • Poor camera
  • Old hat OS
  • Inflexible customisation

Nokia Asha 306 Review

The Nokia Asha 306 is indicative of why Nokia has fallen from favour so spectacularly.  What could be a solid, basic handset is dressed up as an Android-lookalike with the price tag to match but none of the ‘droid's functionality.  A bad display, bad touchscreen and bad browser is going to
Pros:
  • Good battery life
Cons:
  • No 3G
  • slow, unresponsive resistive touch screen
  • pedestrian browser
  • overpriced

Nokia Asha 306 review: Smartphone Ash-pirations

In a shrinking featurephone market, the Nokia Asha lineup is trying to deliver a near-smartphone experience with less complexity and, more crucially, at a more attractive price point. The Asha 306 slots just above the middle of the pack - delivering a touchscreen display and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Nokia Asha 306 is a good little phone if you're after a touch screen phone on a budget. Image results from the phones built-in camera isn't too bad just don't expect to produce great images from it. Web browsing is a little slow but not as slow as some other reviews have made it out to be.
Pros:
  • Touchscreen on a low budget
Cons:
  • Text messaging on this phone is a nightmare
