Nokia 5.3 4GB 64GB

The Nokia 5.3 represents extremely good value for money and is one of the better options to consider if you're looking for something in the budget to mid-range price bracket.

An impressive screen

The screen is the first thing we look at in any phone, and in this device, it's a very impressive sight. The 6.55” screen with HD+ IPS display is big enough and bold enough for gaming or streaming, yet still a comfortable fit in your pocket when you're not using the phone.

Four fantastic cameras

This phone takes above average photos for a device in this price range. That's thanks to the quad camera set-up; 13MP+5MP+2+2MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera.

A cool camera combo

The camera combination includes a macro lens for close up shots, an ultra-wide 118° lens, Night mode, and Portrait mode with enhanced bokeh effects. All backed up by excellent AI imaging for extra creativity in your photography.

A solid performer

The Nokia 5.3 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, octa-core processor plus the Android One v10 (Q) operating system. The good thing about the Android One is a bloat-free, stock version of Android 10, plus regular updates for the next two years, so you don't need to worry about falling behind as far as software goes.

Big battery power

You get more battery than you might expect in a phone at this price point. The 4000mAh battery will stay charged for up to two days while the AI-assisted Adaptive Battery feature saves energy for the apps you use the most.

The Nokia 5.3 saves on the old purse strings, but you'll have to put up with some flaws.

Impressive main camera lens; Good battery life; Extremely affordable;

Nokia 5.3 Review: $199 really can buy a great smartphone

Highly capable smartphones that cost $400 will do everything many people would want from a mobile, but what about phones that cost half that much? HMD Global’s Nokia 5.3 costs just $199, or 149 British pounds, yet after using the phone for a week, I can safely say it doesn’t feel like you’re halving the quality and ability of a more expensive model — in most areas, at least. The Nokia 5.3 will surprise you with its features, software, and overall ability as an everyday smartphone. No, the camera and the screen aren’t up there with the best models, but you shouldn’t expect them to be. Buy the Nokia 5.3 knowing what it can and can’t do beforehand, and you’ll get one of the best smartphone values I’ve seen in a while. The rear panel on the Nokia 5.3 is made from a composite plastic material which is grippy but lacks a pleasant texture. It also has some flex to it and curves around the side to meet the plastic frame, which then leads into the 6.55-inch screen. The phone is 8.5mm thick and ...

Worthy upgrade

Bought early July and very happy with the features, performance and build quality. Provided your Chrome has been updated since early September the Android distribution is very stable. There was previously a bug causing occassional blocking of the Chrome user interface that required Chrome to be opened again to clear it, so I held off a review until I was sure that was fixed as it was an irritating bug. I am pleased to report it is fixed. Apparently, this glitch also occured on Google Pixel phones so it wasn't a Nokia thing. Good processor performance, large display and excellent 2 day battery life would make it worth considering. Personally, I prefer the physical case size of my old Nokia 3, but larger form factor seems to be all the rage and the 5.3 offers a much better overall experience.

Good features

Bought as a quick replacement when I damaged my Oppo phone. Does everything I need, easy to use, and good features. Only downside is it sometimes struggles to open multiple pages when on the net. A problem I never had with my Oppo AX5.

Nokia's comeback!

It's been great so far. I have had no issues with it and it performs very well. I love that fact that it is not swamped with bloatware, it allows more space to work with and the processor is not drained by apps that are not used. Loving being back with Nokia after so many years. It is good to see them competing again.

Good features and sensible price.

I am very happy with my new phone. It has features of more expensive phones and the battery charge lasts much longer than previous ones. Also plenty of space to add songs, photos and apps. The only slight negative is that the manual provided is minimal, but you are able to find out all the info you need online.
