For its launch price, the Nokia 1 is a difficult sell. With poor screen quality, paltry performance, and poky specifications, it doesn't offer much in the way for value for money. As a smartphone it fails, but as an 'advanced' feature phone it excels.

The limited internal storage and RAM is offset by Android Oreo (Go Edition) which gives users more storage space and memory than traditional Android. There may be problems with exchanging data with a computer of which you should be aware.

It is not easy for me to deliver a verdict concerning the Nokia 1.3, because I know little about its target market. The typical owner of such a smartphone would require a totally different usage pattern from mine. What I do know is this: the Nokia 1.3 is sufficient if you:

Very good value for money; Removable battery; Independent dual SIM and microSD slots

Very basic processor performance; Poor camera performance

The Nokia 1.3 is a Snapdragon running smartphone, but this does not have one of the high end Snapdragon CPUs, rather it runs on a lower-end Qualcomm SD 215 which should be capable of handling day to day usage.

A bargain basement Android phone can usually save you a wedge of cash over a whizz-bang flagship - but you have to put up with compromised performance. Or at least, you did . Google has finally gotten its act together and adapted Android for low-power hardware, with Nokia being first in line to try...

The Nokia 1.3 might look like a bargain at first glance and even in the hand, but there's little point getting a phone that suffers from such painful performance issues.
