Nintendo Land (WiiU) - Review

Nintendo has a tradition with its new consoles. They will make a game (sometimes packed-in) that showcases what makes this new thing you just bought so new. The NES had Super Mario Bros which showed what was possible on a home console. GameBoy had Tetris , the first mobile killer gaming app.

Nintendo Land review

So maybe it's better to judge Nintendo Land on its own merits. Do that and you might be surprised. It's not just half a dozen great diversions and a few more besides; it's sweet fan service that celebrates Nintendo's catalogue with more heart and less calculation than we've seen of late.

Nintendo Land Review

Nintendo Land packs a surprising amount of replay value for completionists. There are lots of decorations for the central plaza, stamps, stages to unlock, etc. There's plenty of game here if you play in spurts, even more game and more fun if you can gather up some friends to play along.

Nintendo Land

This ain't no Wii Sports.

Metroid Blast; Metroid Blast; And did I mention Metroid Blast

Nothing overly original; doesn't do as good of a job of showcasing the Wii U's power as it could have

Nintendo Land is the Wii Sports of the Wii U's launch titles. The game places your Mii inside a theme park filled with attractions. These attractions come in the form of mini-games, most of which can be played with 2 to 4 people.

Review: Rabbids Land (Nintendo Wii U)

I was a huge fan of the Rabbids series when it first came out. The first game was one of the best titles for the Wii in its early days and it made wonderful use of the motion controls.

Nintendo Land Wii U

Multiplayer madness; Good demo material for the tech; Bite-sized attractions; Novelty factor

Solo player offerings a tad uninspired; No online multiplayer games; Novelty factor soon wears off
