The 2DS has the dubious distinction of being the middle child in the 3DS line-up despite being its newest addition. I'm here to tell you that despite our subconscious desire to label it so as a result of the "3" counting back to "2", this is simply not the case.

The 2DS is a cheaper 3DS with one less dimension. That's not a major problem, but the 2DS design itself can be. Nintendo's latest console, the Nintendo 2DS exists basically to solve two problems.

A cheaper, simpler alternative to its 3D counterpart, the Nintendo 2DS offers dual-screen action in a more kid-friendly package. Given you can't display in 3D though, the stereoscopic camera is pretty useless.
