Nikon AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm f4.5-5.6G ED VR
Arguably the least glamorous of Nikon's most recent lens announcements, this DX format zoom is intended to partner the 18-55mm kit lens bundled with the new D3100 and D5000. It's also meant as an alternative to the existing 55-200mm VR, offering more reach as the equivalent to an 82-450mm on a 35mm...

Nikon AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Review
Nikon's zoom manages to provide a reasonable 5.5x zoom range. It also has the added benefit of coming complete with a protective carrying pouch. Nikon's layout follows the common arrangement, with a narrow focusing ring at the front of the lens and a wide zoom ring behind it.

Wonderful Lens!
A wonderful piece of equipment and nicely made. Super clean glass (and make sure it stays tat way!) that takes crisp photos.
Pros:
- I was very excited to open this lens when I got it in the mail
- I bought it specifically for comet PanSTARRS and ISON (which will be arriving later in the year) as well as to extend the possibilities of range since I like to go hiking far away from city lights to take images of the environment,...

Very good
Perfect for beginners who want to bag some more zooming which generally lacks in most kit lens.. This lens comes at an affordable price with matching performance.. overall I'm very much satisfied so far with pics from my recent weekend getaway..

One of my favorites!
I've used this lens for a variety of situations and it works beautifully for the most part! It works the best in well lit areas when your subject isn't doing a whole lot of moving. The poorer the light and the more movement happening, the longer it takes to focus, even compared to other lenses.

lighter weight zoom lense
Great reduced weight, but of course, the quality is not to be compared with my previous zoom lense which was twice the price, almost twice the weight, and twice the quality!! However, it is great for it's price.
Cons:
- Low-Quality Recordings

Outstanding Product, dose not get any better
I love this lense, for landscapes and architecture and those large group portraits this is The Lense. Also great lense if you like doing astrophotography. Its heavy but dont let that put you off, quality lenses are heavy, its all in the build.

Zooming
I love using this lens when photographing outdoors, which I do predominantly. It brings the distance to me and allows me to capture details not otherwise evident.

Solid, quality, Nikon lens
I bundled this with my purchase of a D5500, and it's a great addition! It complements the 18-55 that come with the base kit, and is a great lens for taking on day trips or vacation without adding too much extra size and bulk
Pros:
- Fantastic quality construction
- not too big for a zoom of this amount
- and the quality is very very good
Cons:
- none
