There was no indication in the listing that this is a grey market lens therefore the warranty would not be serviceable by Nikon Canada. Pros:
  • Beets the 1.4 in everything but build quality, great color & contrast
  • The only category the 1.4 beets it in is having a 1.4 aperture.

Great portrait lens

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens is a great lens for portraiture and for use in low light. Prime lenses are typically sharper than zoom lenses and this lens is no exception. For the price it is difficult to find a sharper portraiture lens that has the same low light capabilities.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G

Optically, the AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8G is excellent, which given its reasonable price tag is a very nice surprise. Sharpness is excellent in the centre from f2.8 to f/11, with f5.6-f/11 producing the sharpest results at the edges of the frame.
