Superb Replacement of the KIT lens

KIT lenses do not do the cameras that they come with justice. This is the equivalent of 75mm on a crop sensor if you aren't using a full frame camera. Fantastic for indoor shots/portraits of any kind.

Fast auto focusing Excellent Bokeh Fantastic Image Quality; much better than KIT lens Great low light performance coupled with current generation Nikon cameras

Twice the price of the equivalent Canon model; But I chose a Nikon camera for a reason, so that's ok

Worthy Upgrade

The only flaw I can point at is the slight barrel distortion but at this price it still worth it. Its hardly noticeable unless you frame the edges with straight lines. The nikon 35mm 1.8g has been the worst at this but this one is almost not there.

Excellent Lens

I bought it to supplement the 24-120 f4 zoom I have which is also an excellent lens. The 50mm f1.8 is a lighter, handy lens that works in many situations.

Historically, 50mm lenses have been the standard lenses for 35mm film SLRs. Back in 1972 when I bought my first SLR , it came with a 50mm/f1.4 as a "kit lens," although we did not use such terminology back then.

Best at what you pay

the 50mm 1.8g is the best at what you pay. having that said bcz of the focal length, u get a very good bokeh, nd the construction makes the bokeh a lot smoother than the 1.8d. very good in low light, actually it looks better dan wat u see with ur naked eye. contrast is great.

Great Prime Lens

Picked up a Nikon AF-S 50mm f1.8 G to use as my main prime lens. The lens equates to about a 65mm in 35mm format so it is great for portraits. The lens stops down to 1.8, not as low as some, but great in low light conditions non the less.

Easy to use; Build quality

Amazing addition to the AW1 with FT1 adaptor !

This prime lens turned my AW1 into a beast. Sharpness, wonderfull low light caption and control over focusing via the manual focus ring. You just set and lock aperture at 22 on the aperture ring and the AW1 controls aperture via the FT1 mount.

I would buy again

Great lens. Light, sharp and fast. My favorite carry around lens. Works well for street photography. Definitely would recommend
