Awesome lens for the price

For the price this is a very good lens. I use it on my full-frame D800 with great results when stopped down to F5.6 or narrower. You can't afford to NOT have this lens if you don't have anything that does this focal length.

I can't believe I've used any other lens

This is my first lens besides the 18-55mm non-VR kit lens that I use with my D3000. I am just beginning to expand my photography and I cannot believe I have used any other lens besides this one. The kit lens feels barbaric! The autofocus is super fast even in low light.

Really Great Lens

I am really amazed at the quality of photos from this lens... I didn't expect it to be that good. Makes photos nearly look 3D. Super shape pics.

Excellent Lens

I bought it to supplement the 24-120 f4 zoom I have which is also an excellent lens. The 50mm f1.8 is a lighter,handy lens that works in many situations.

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition ($279.95) is a dressed up version of the standard AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G($196.95 at Amazon) that features cosmetics that better match the retro Nikon Df. If you're paying the $150 premium to get the lens bundled with the camera it's a great value, but unless you're in love with its style you're better off saving some money and going with the standard 50mm f/1.8G. Very light at 6.7 ounces, the lens($276.95 at Amazon) measures just 2 by 2.8 inches (HD). Its filter thread supports 58mm filters, and a lens hood is included. Close focus is limited to just under 1.5 feet—you'll be able to frame subjects tightly and open up the aperture to blur the background, but don't expect this to perform double duty as a macro lens.
