Great Prime Lens

Picked up a Nikon AF-S 50mm f1.8 G to use as my main prime lens. The lens equates to about a 65mm in 35mm format so it is great for portraits. The lens stops down to 1.8, not as low as some, but great in low light conditions non the less.
Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • Build quality

50mm of Greatness Delivered with perfection.

It's often said by many pro's of the photography world that it's okay if you use a basic body as long as you pair it up with a good glass. And this lens does justice to that statement.

Giving approximately the field of view of humans, gives an non-distorted view of the subject. Shooting wide open gives portraits a beautiful focus on the subject. This is the only lens to use when candid, sharp, low light photography is needed.

Excellent lens, everyone should own one!

Excellent sharp lens, I use this on my crop censor and my f80 film camera for all occasions but mainly street photography along side the 35mm 1.8g which I also highly recommend! This lens is sharper than the 1.4g across the whole frame save a few pounds and buy this you won't regret it!
Pros:
  • Easy To Use
  • Fast
  • Improves Product Function
  • Lightweight
  • Sharp
Cons:
  • None

Superb Replacement of the KIT lens

KIT lenses do not do the cameras that they come with justice. This is the equivalent of 75mm on a crop sensor if you aren't using a full frame camera. Fantastic for indoor shots/portraits of any kind.
Pros:
  • Fast auto focusing Excellent Bokeh Fantastic Image Quality
  • much better than KIT lens Great low light performance coupled with current generation Nikon cameras
Cons:
  • Twice the price of the equivalent Canon model
  • But I chose a Nikon camera for a reason, so that's ok

Best at what you pay

the 50mm 1.8g is the best at what you pay. having that said bcz of the focal length, u get a very good bokeh, nd the construction makes the bokeh a lot smoother than the 1.8d. very good in low light, actually it looks better dan wat u see with ur naked eye. contrast is great.
