Nikon AF-S NIKKOR f/1.8G Lens review
This is a small and lightweight lens that can be carried around anywhere easily. However, the size should not be taken for its lack of performance. It can perform in any light condition, which is a stellar feature as far as the price goes.- Lightweight and easy to hold, Renders silky and natural-looking bokeh, Equipped with a super-fast and quiet autofocus, Subject and background mesh together beautifully, At full aperture, the resolution in the middle of the image is brilliant
- Lens distortion issues are noticeable, Vignetting can be seen at full aperture, Aperture and vibration ring are not equipped

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition Review
The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition is optically identical to the standard version of the lens, but is priced higher. The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition ($279.95) is a dressed up version of the standard AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G($196.95 at Amazon) that features cosmetics that better match the retro Nikon Df. If you're paying the $150 premium to get the lens bundled with the camera it's a great value, but unless you're in love with its style you're better off saving some money and going with the standard 50mm f/1.8G. Very light at 6.7 ounces, the lens($276.95 at Amazon) measures just 2 by 2.8 inches (HD). Its filter thread supports 58mm filters, and a lens hood is included. Close focus is limited to just under 1.5 feet—you'll be able to frame subjects tightly and open up the aperture to blur the background, but don't expect this to perform double duty as a macro lens. The lens doesn't have any sort of image stabilization, as Nikon only puts that technology into zooms and telephoto prime lenses—it's rare that you'll see it in a 50mm lens from any manufacturer. There is an internal foc...- Sharp

Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8 G (FX) - Review / Test Report
The Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8 G is a very solid performer that delivers very good to excellent sharpness across most of the FX frame. Typical for a fast prime there is some vignetting wide open as well as bokeh fringing. CAs and distortion are moderate.
Stellar performance by Nikon 50mm f/1.8 G lens

Awesome lens for the price
For the price this is a very good lens. I use it on my full-frame D800 with great results when stopped down to F5.6 or narrower. You can't afford to NOT have this lens if you don't have anything that does this focal length.- Price 58mm filter thread metal mount very sharp for the price
- No weather sealing no depth of field indicator plastic filter thread
I can't believe I've used any other lens
This is my first lens besides the 18-55mm non-VR kit lens that I use with my D3000. I am just beginning to expand my photography and I cannot believe I have used any other lens besides this one. The kit lens feels barbaric! The autofocus is super fast even in low light.- Build Quality
- cheap
- Fast Focus
- Lightweight
- Soft at 18
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G
The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G ($219.95 direct) is a modern take on the classic 50mm focal length. It's a compact lens that provides a standard-angle field of view when used with a full-frame body like the Nikon D4 .
