Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G
After more than 30 years, Nikon has changed the optical design of its 50mm f/1.8 lens. But how does the new model compare to its predecessors? Richard Sibley investigates

I felt somewhat obligated to enter a review, as the only quick review of two stars seemed a bit unfair. But, in all fairness, I've only had this lens for about 24 hours, so take this for what it's worth. I've used the 1.8 D for a couple years and was generally satisfied with it.
Pros:
- Build
- AF speed
- Improved optics wide open
- silent af
- auto/manual override
- great bokeh
Cons:
- 1 stop loss on the high end

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G
The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 is an excellent companion to any modern Nikon SLR camera, whether film or digital. Small, lightweight and affordable, it's also a winner in the optical department.

Amazing Bokeh
This lens is an incredible value for the money, which probably explains why its so hard to find right now. The wide aperture creates incredible background blur in portraits, and also allows for shorter exposures in low-light conditions.
Pros:
- Absolutely everything
Cons:
- Hard to find

NIKKOR 50mm AF-S f/1.8G
I followed the Dell customer review suggestion on this lens and the purchase was well beyond my expectations. At 50mm the DX format conversion equals a focal range of 75mm standard and clarity on the G series is much sharper than I could ever imagine!

Great lens
I bought this lens because I wanted a fast portrait lens for my D7000. For me, this lens represented the best of both worlds - a fast aperture at a cheap price.

Bokeh here we come!
This lens instantly makes your photo's better whatever your level of ability. I have only recently started getting more serious about photography, having bought a DSLR as an upgrade from my bridge camera, and this lens makes even shots from an amateur look like they have been taken by a pro.

This is just an amazing lens!
I love this lens! It is so worth the price! You're actually getting a deal with this lens. Although I wanted to purchase 50mm f1.4g, this was more in budget and many places stated that this lens is slightly sharper until stopped down, then they are both about the same.

Excellent lens for portraits and close up photos. It has very good build quality. All images looks awesome. But for landscapes it is not perfect lens because has very short angle about 33 degrees wide. Good price.
