NIKON AF-S NIKKOR 28 mm f/1.8G Wide-angle Prime Lens

Pros:
  • Fast, light Prime lens, fairly sharp wide open in the centre of frame
  • Nice bokeh for 28mm focal length
Cons:
  • A little soft wide open in corners but worse than that it has bad focus shift as well as bad field curvature, combine all of these together & ultimately it means that the lens was a bit of a let down for me
  • Have tried many copies all the same

i returned it

I really didn't care for this lens.. I was under the impression it zoomed and see know point to wide/prime lens.. I guess if your a landscape photographer or someone who only needs wide shots but for me it was not what i was searching for..

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G Lens - BRAND NEW review

We all read pros/cons about this lens. You know about build, slack in focus ring, and price. I spent too much time with this lens and wish I could get it back. Despite monkeying with af adjustment I just could not get a sharp picture wide open on my D600.
Pros:
  • sharp stopped down
Cons:
  • soft wide open - which is a shame

Decent wide angle at a fair price

This lens is no match for Nikons Pro range lenses. The build quality is decidedly light weight (which may be a good or bad feature, depending on the individual's requirements) but despite not being of Pro standard is nevertheless a very good lens at this price point and is way ahead of third party...
Pros:
  • Good picture quality
  • Lightweight
  • Simple Controls

Nikon 28mm f/1.8G AF-S Nikkor

After trying half a dozen lenses to use as as a fast normal prime on my D7100 I've finaly found one I like. Nikon 35mm was too long, Sigma 30mm was to soft, Nikon 28mm f/2,8 AF was nice, but f/2,8 is quite slow for a prime. The Nikon 28mm f/1,8 on the other hand is perfect.
Pros:
  • Light
  • sharp
  • fast
  • what more to ask for
Cons:
  • Spherochromatism
  • quite large for a prime

This is one of my favorite lenses in the collection

This is one of my favorite lenses in the collection. I often use it with my Nikon D7200 since I really like the field of view and perspective of this lens on a cropped sensor. It focuses super fast, silent, and accurate.

Don't believe everything you read.

I really thought long and hard over this one. All of the online reviews indicated that this was a questionable lens with issues. I then noticed that virtually all of those reviews were from 2012. The recent reviews were much better.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 28mm f/1.8G Lens - BRAND NEW review

I was in one of my favorite camera stores buying a new Nikon V1 for my gal when feeling a little under the weather, I started looking at glass. Spending can perk me up. Wink I'd been casually thinking about this new 28 f/1.8G for a couple of months but was a little worried about the reports of focus...
Pros:
  • Very sharp and contrasty on my D700, D3S and D800. Crystal clear rendition with no color cast.
Cons:
  • Almost too light weight for a $700 lens if that&#x27
  • s possible.
