More than just a macro lens

I had the legendary 105 2.8 macro but never used it b/c of the extending barrel and just too long. This guy is compact, pretty light and really sharp, I mean really sharp. Ultra sharp macro (use a tripod, always) and I love it on the street or in the back country. This is a really sharp lens.

Durable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Nice Bokeh; Rugged

Great value for money and world class pictures

I have been impressed by the photos that I have taken. It is a very sharp lens and it is even sharper than the 50mm 1.8 af that I have. It takes superb macro photos. It has difficulty focusing at 1:1 magnification but the manual focus is easy.

Fantastic Macro Lens

This is an absolutely fantastic lens. It's extremely sharp. The autofocus is very fast, even though it's not an AF-S lens. The AF is fast enough to cover sports which require short lenses such as basketball. The field of view on DX bodies allows it to double as a portrait lens.

Consistent Output; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Lightweight

An excellent, lightweight macro lens at a reasonable price!

I bought this lens for carrying in my backpack when hiking, as it's about half the weight of the 105mm VR Micro-Nikkor. The quality of the images produced by this lens on my D7000 is superb, with sharp focus and brilliant colours.

Nikon 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro Nikkor review by 123click

Extremely sharp when stopped down but forget about using it wide open because it is just a blur in the corners and just mediocre in the center.

Extremely sharp when stopped down

Terrible corner sharpness at f2.8 and often require artificial lighting; a tripod or a flash to get results

Capturing Life!

"I bought the Nikon D3100 after having my first child. My little point and shoot was fine (I thought) until he started moving. All my pictures were ruined by baby movement and it broke my mom-heart. I am SO glad I bought the Nikon! I bought the 3100 and added 55-200 lens to the 18-55 it came with.

One of Nikon's best kept secrets...

If ever there was a lens to strike a substantial blow for fixed focal length lenses vs. zoom lenses, then the AF-D 60mm f2.8 Micro is just such a lens. Although often appearing as a purely specialist short focal length macro lens, this lens works extremely well with everyday subjects at normal...

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D Lens Review

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D was first introduced in 1993, replacing a short-lived non-D variant of the lens. Nikon recently updated this classic macro prime - Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED was announced in 2008 and incorporates an AF-S focusing system along with a tweaked optical and...
