The Nikon D90 DSLR: A Digital Camera Review

The Nikon D90 is a mid-range DSLR that is aimed at the enthusiast photographer. It sits comfortably in between the entry-level cameras, and the pro-level cameras. The D90 would be ideal for photographers who are looking to move up from an entry-level DSLR like the D3000, D3100 or D5000.

Pretty good camera but is a little clunky and not too easy to hold in the hand. Takes great photos but heavy in the hand.

The D90, inherits the excellent, crisp 3-inch LCD from the prosumer-level Nikon D300, it adds a new CMOS sensor, and it pumps up the resolution to 12.3 megapixels (from 10.2 megapixels on the D80).

Greatest Show on Earth

I used Canon for over 30 years, but when I saw the price I had to have it. I never thought I would get such quality for this price. This camera is amazing! I wished I had started out on Nikon back then. I'm looking forward in buying the new D7000 in the near future.

Great all-round DSLR for semi-professional photographers.

I've had my Nikon D90 for several years and have not been able to fault it. As a Nikon, it is typically heavier than other comparable brand DSLRs, but some (including me) actually like that about the Nikon - it feels more robust and durable.

Nikon D90

I would give Nikons apparent flagship model a 9 out of 10. I just got mine from ButterflyPhoto not a week ago and already I've amassed 100s of shots to upload. I used the D300 for a year before I got this one.
Pros:
  • Amazing Video & Professional Detail
Cons:
  • SLR Not P&S

Nikon D90 Review

Review based on a production Nikon D90 with firmware V1.0 Almost exactly two years after the D80 was announced comes its replacement, the rather predictably named D90. The D80 has been one of Nikon's quiet successes, and even today, despite being positively Methuselah-like in digital camera terms it...
Pros:
  • Image quality comparable with its peers
  • Excellent viewfinder
  • Superb high resolution LCD monitor
  • Automatic chromatic aberration correction improves performance from all lenses
  • Punchy but not un-natural colors (and plenty of control if you want to change them
  • Good dynamic range - and Active
Cons:
  • Over-enthusiastic metering a little prone to blown highlights
  • Very soft (default) JPEG output compared to its peers
  • We believe more of the captured dynamic range could be incorporated into Jpegs
  • Menus getting long and complex (though well organized and differentiated
  • Bundled software pretty

Love My D90

I had been comparing the D7000 with the D90 for quite some time. I know the D7000 is the newer model but decided on the D90. I also own the D60 & D50 models as well. I felt the D7000 would be over kill for me & too difficult to learn. The upgrade from the D60 has been relatively painless.
Pros:
  • Easy to Use
  • Great Picture Quality
Cons:
  • Bulky
  • No more than my D60
