For 2013, Nikon has announced the new D7100 dSLR, or "HD-SLR" because this camera is designed to capture stills at a 24.1 megapixel resolution as well as Full HD video (1080/30p). This ruggedly built camera includes the same moisture and dust resistance as the Nikon D300S, and the shutter will last...

Fast and accurate AF system, Excellent Shooting Performance, Outstanding image quality, Incredibly sharp images, Optical Viewfinder with approx; 100% coverage, Huge, 3.2-inch LCD Display, Dual Memory Card Slots, Full 1080p HD video capture, Continuous AF in Movie Mode, Excellent Battery Life, HDMI...

Slow AF while shooting in Live View mode; We were only able to reach 5fps burst shooting (6fps claimed; Unacceptable noise levels in the Hi settings; No screen protector to save the 3.2-inch LCD; Steep price for a non-full frame camera

For the experenced shooter

The D7100 nabs some of the best digital images using a new sensor that captures more information than other brands 24MP models. That smart sensor also soaks up more light, so you can get crisp shots all the way up to ISO6400. A 51-point autofocus system ensures even moving targets stay sharp.

I Am going to have a lot of fun with this Camera

This is what the Nikon D7000 should have been, but it is not, so no big deal! I Love that this has a 51 fAF Pionts System, and for the first eve on a Nikon DSLR, a Detection range of -2, for even better low light photography then the D7000 was, what was a -1.

As the successor to the well-regarded D7000 , the Nikon D7100 has a tough act to follow. It has to offer compelling reasons for current owners to upgrade, while maintaining the attributes that have made the D7000 such a popular enthusiast APS-C DSLR in the first place.

Outstanding low ISO performance in both JPEG and Raw files; Very good default JPEG settings; Excellent build quality and very good ergonomics and handling; Effective auto white balance in a variety of lighting conditions; Comprehensive camera customization options; Auto ISO selection can be linked...

Small image buffer severely limits burst capacity in Raw-enabled modes; Slow AF in live view and video modes (compared to mirrorless APS-C cameras; No real-time aperture adjustment preview in live view; Noticeably soft video output; In video mode; the 1.3x crop setting produces upsampled output; No...

Nikon D7100

The Nikon D7100 is an update of the now three-year old Nikon D7000 . Although the D7000 arrived at a time when many weren't expecting it, as Nikon had the enthusiast DSLR market relatively well catered for with the D90 and D300/D300S, it proved incredibly popular with its match of features and form.

Excellent LCD screen; Reliable and accurate auto white balance; Handles well

Locking buttons are fiddly; Slow processing times; Burst mode only so-so

Nikon D7100 review

The Nikon D7100 is described by Nikon as its best DX-format DSLR to date. With its APS-C-sized sensor, the camera sits in the company's consumer-level DSLR range, above the D7000 (priced at around £400 less), while the other weather-sealed DX-format D300S is now in limited supply.

Nikon's finest APS-C offers deep control and superb performance.

As the most expensive current Nikon camera that doesn't have a full-frame sensor (discounting the old D300s), professionals might be tempted to write off the D7100 as "the best of the rest." Bad idea.
