Wanted an update to older bodies D50, D300 and D700, I use the D50 mainly for technical work but its coming to the end of its life now while the other bodies I use for personal work. I wanted an update for the D50 and this model appears to fit the bit very well.
Price, compatable with Nikon Capture NX2 for editing RAW pictures where D7200 is not; Cheaper than the D50 I bought 10 year ago

I originally purchased this camera to "upgrade" from my D90 which I thought the D7100 would address. My D7100 took amazing photos, great focusing speed, and once again great photos.

Exceptional camera at a great price. Up until July 2015 the D7100 was Nikon's top of the line APS-C dSLR. If you can get it at the "sale" price, then pickup the prime lens kit for it at the "sale" price, you are getting a bargain on some wonderful equipment.

Without any hesitation it is the best DSLR we have ever owned - we've owned Canon and d300 over time. Sure it has a few issues but what it does have overshadows them. It is a very responsive camera which will keep up with most people's shooting needs.

Having previously owned a D90, I am blown away by the significant improvements of the D7100. First off the upgrade in construction quality is immediately noticeable and remains apparent when handling the camera for extended times.

Limited Aperture Control
I bought this camera when a client requested images with pixel size greater than my D700 or D300S can deliver. I shoot primarily sports now and the D800 is a bit too slow as a sports camera (my D700 with grip and fast battery was just about perfect) and I can't quite afford the D4.

For a mid sized company this camera is all you need. Fantastic grip, amazing shots and this twin kit allows you the flexibility to really push the camera to the limits. I would recommend this camera to newbies and pros alike.
